Nothing going on here In central Minnesota. Just your typical 1.5 year olds trying to snoop some with the doe's. Found a few scrapes as well. I'm sure It's young bucks. In another week were going to start seeing things pick up scrape wise. Probably see a few more rubs too.
scrapes and rubs are starting to pop up here in southeast Kansas. From what ive seen these are visited mainly by 1.5 and 2.5 year olds. I dont imagine there'll be any seeking and chasing activity for another 2-3 weeks when the first does start popping.
Things are getting pretty playful here in MD ...nothing serious but deff starting to move more Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
Man I kinda think I have been here in Northeast PA. Might be wishful thinking idk, but it seems like it to me. 2 days ago at 1230 I had a buck chasing 2 doe and grunting his head off. He would not get off them doe. Chasing and jamming his head as far up their you know what as he could. And he was a mature, 3.5 year old 120" 8pt. Then yesterday before I got in stand there was a huge body small racked buck out in the middle of a corn field just roaming at 1100 in the hot sunny day...very odd. Then while I was in stand last night had a different 3.5 year old buck, my main target buck, come in and chase doe all around like the buck from the night before. Not sure if it was the same 2 doe but was a different buck forsure. Super odd for this time of the year...
Heck that 8pt was chasing so hard he ran into a 12" tree at one point so hard he stood there for a minute shaking his head...deer dont normally do dumb things like that any other time of the year.
Well guys I rattled in a 7 pointer today. The same guy was chasing does in a feild an hour later. It's almost here which sucks cause I booked a trip to Ohio on nov 5th grrrr hope it's good
I have only made it out once and probably will wait till my Vacation starts Now, Oct 22 till November 19th There are a Few PA days in there also. I read an artical the other day from Charles Al's you know the Guy and he said that we could see an early start to the rut, starting around the 31st. But not peaking untill mid November.
not to much going on here yet... seen a batchelor group of three bucks feeding together at noon yesterday
Here in the Black Hills I found some scrapes in a heavily used bedding area, so I left a trailcam. Anxious to see if a mature buck is in the area. Will check next weekend!
Seeing some scrapes in southern Illinois, but also seeing the same 3 bucks traveling together after dark.
Ive finely noticed that the bucks seem to have broken up around here. Should be any time for you too!
Here in Rhode Island seems some rubs and scrapes are popping up. Had a new rub and scrape show up 25 yards from my first stand location Saturday. Pretty excited about that. Have yet to see any bucks though. I have no trail cams to put up on it though definitely gonna get a couple cams for next year can't afford em right now though.
Here in Michigan I have been noticing a lot of scrapes and rubs showing up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are rutting. I had a young buck push a doe by me grunting and even let out a growl. I am assuming that it’s just young bucks being young bucks though. Rut is always the same time around here things should pick up in about 2 weeks, you may get a few does that rarely come into estrus early but that doesn’t mean it’s the rut.
I agree. Watched a 6/8pt (probably 1.5 or 2.5 year old) run two does out of a field last week. Had his head down for quite a bit following behind them. The two hauled as$ out of there after he got too close.
Iam hitting it hard here in a few days, and plan to be in the woods all day, On a few sits. I was thinking what your Opinion on useing some Doe Estrus? I so said that the 1.5 and the 2.5 year old Bucks are chaseing, Might get a Big boy to investagate?
I think it way too ealry to try and trip a mature deers nose. he'll more than likely get scared smelling a doe in heat this early on. I would say if you use it don't over do it, just a little at a time.
