    Exceptional post. To be abusive as a coach is a very low life form in my opinion.

    It is hard to believe one of the players didn't clean the guys plow. I had my share of yelling coaches, which accomplished nothing beneficial for me, but never had one push me like that, curse me or throw stuff at me. I don't think I would have taken it.

    We had a discussion in an organizational communication class in grad school concerning when it is appropriate to take the "Axe Handle" approach. The response was an overwhelming "never," because when you do, it is because you have already lost your influence on those with whom you are trying to communicate. I am guessing the same goes with coaching. I just don't understand why one of the players didn't report it.

    Probably because they were afraid to lose their scholarship.

    I am sure you are correct, at least for the average Joe... or they had experienced such behavior before, as Hooker said, and it didn't seem all that out of the ordinary?

    Still doesn't make it acceptable or the correct way to coach a team.
