Hi...new to the forum... I'm in zone 10...live in Salem and usually hunt the NorthShore. Anyone from the area see any rut activity? The closest I've seen is a total change in activity/location...went from getting 300ish pics on each cam after 2-3 weeks consistently...then 30 the last time I checked! Ghosts... BTW New to hunting..bagged a turkey in the spring, but never a deer. I'm a disabled vet and use a cross bow (with state license)...any pointers from you guys would be appreciated...especially about ground hunting...I don't to well physically in a tree stand. Thanks...John
Anyone have any luck only thing I seen today was the 3 stands set within 60 yards of me did end up trying some spot and stock and found some nice rubs but I'm beyond bummed about those sets
I was out yesterday...found a good fresh rub line that met at a three way intersection...that leads to a river crossing choke point... Once again...ghosts...saw nothing... Did check a new cam I placed near a bedding area next to a golf course. It was only there for 2 days...figured I'd check it midday when I left the woods. Don't usually check them that quick, but what the hell... Got 4 buck pics...2 pics of each...one was just body shots...the other is a fellow that always has a tiny 4 pointer following him like it was his mother. The 4 pointer was no where to be seen...so the groups have at least started breaking up. Just had surgery so I couldn't go two days in a row...missed today...we'll see how Monday goes. BTW...this was in Peabody, MA. Still looking for ground hunting tips if anyone has any...Thanks!
everyone out here seeing bucks chasing.. I hunted Tues AM. After I left and returned Wed afternoon I had 5 different bucks come by my stand where my camera is. 3 are brand new and just showed up...
Man I haven't been seeing anything but it could be the 3 stands so ****** bags set up right on top of me sat is spot and stalk or sit on a small cliff over a run not sure yet but this sucks most likely year 4 of tag soup
In Maine in my area somebody shot a ten pointer when it stood up bedded with a doe in broad daylight near a dirt road, that was back on the 6th. I've seen a lot of small cruising bucks in the past ten days. On the 8th I got a big 9 on trail camera at 2 pm hot after a doe, head down. Scrapes were real hot until just a few days ago. I caught a big buck at first light on Friday and put one in his shoulder, but I never found him. This morning I saw a fawn with no does, so I'm assuming she was bedded down with a buck somewhere. Fingers crossed, I just put one through the heart of that same big nine I mentioned earlier, out cruising at 3:40 this afternoon. I'd say the rut is on in Maine .
I have been hunting in Rehoboth for a few weeks now and have seen scrapes, rubs and some limited movement. Saturday was the last day I was out and the daytime movement had started to pick up.
