Rut 2013

Hey guys just wondering whats the best week or days to take off fot this years rut, ive heard its gonnabe a late one just wondering what u guys think ? Thx

 

Not that it fully matters as we will hunt anyway, but from Deer & Deer Hunting Magazine for the Northern States they claim that this years rut will be more of a trickle rut, reason is the 2nd full moon after the autumnal equinox ( October 18) will be November 17th, the rut of 2013 will be similar to the ruts of 2002, 2005, & 2010. The claim that we will have days (the first 15 days of November) when the woods are alive and hot then things can be dead. They claim if you had to pick one week to hunt they say between November 14 through 21.*

Seeking Phase:November 12-17*

Chasing Phase:November 15-22*

Breeding Phase:November 20-30

 

I prefer the first two weeks of November myself

 

Me too. It's fun to read the trends, but it is the same every year as far as I am concerned. No way in hell some editor getting paid to try and predict the future will mess with my past results.

 

Daylight not moonlight drives the rut...

 

Down here in southern Alabama the rut is last week of January/first week of February

I wish that magazine could tell me when my wife is going to get horny too.

 

3rd week sounds late to me for northern states. Here in VA our best week is usually the second week.

 

Theres other magazines for that
