BS is right. It's a bunch of city slickers imposing their way on rural people.

Farm kids smell funny, but besides that, I think the proposed law goes a little too far.

I believe there is a secret childrens farming society that pushed the administration to pass this law. Every kid I have known that grew up working on a farm absolutely hated it.

Really? I've found just the opposite. Kids that grew up on a farm on this side of the pond seem to take pride in it.

Probably because in Wisconsin, there is no where else to go in life. I hear some will even wear giant pieces of foam cheese on their heads.

I'm sure there are kids somewhere that enjoy working on a farm, I just haven't met any of them. I lived in a farming community for 6 years around my teenage years. The kids I knew hated working on a farm because they couldn't do many of things normal kids got to do. They couldn't play in sports or participate in after school activities because they had to go home to do chores on the farm. Weekdays consisted of school, chores, homework. Weekends consisted of chores. They hated it.

I'm all for teaching kids responsibility, but I also don't believe you have to work on a farm to learn a good work ethic, as some suggested in the article.

    Now you're catching on.

They allow kids to go to school instead of dropping out at 16 to work full time on a farm. They teach things such as spelling. Even tough words like "advancement".

They also teach geography. Did you know Michigan has more than one city?

I've never known of or even heard of one kid to drop out of school to work on a farm. They must make a different type of farm kid over there.

Keep throwing as something will probably stick eventually. :p

"The kids I knew hated working on a farm because they couldn't do many of things normal kids got to do. "

What kind of farms were they?

Around here farm kids still do the sports... but they also get to drive trucks, tractors and other equipment, ride 4-wheelers, shoot guns... all the stuff the fat, lazy city kids don't get to do.

....and this is a terrible bill. Another perfect example of big government try to take control of every facet of our lives. This administration has been particularly bad about this. Heck they were pushing for a CDL requirement to operate any/all farm implements.

Only 90% of them are fat and lazy. Stop painting stereotypes with your broad brush.
