I have a deuter pack I wear on longer trail runs. I could carry my phone, keys and use hydration bladder. Shorter runs I only carried my phone in hand.
I don't take water lol. This is really a belt more than fannypack. It sits inside the waistband of your shorts and can't be seen
A very well respected trainer says sprints can be done on leg day, with a 4-5 hour break between. So 12 hrs apart you are fine.
Just got in from another run. I downloaded an app called couch to 10k in 14 weeks. seems to be pretty decent, I like the way it starts, warm up walk/stretch for 5 minutes, then running for 1.5 minutes, walk 1 minute. for 20 minutes then 5 minute cool down. it doesn't keep track of miles or gps. just beeps and voice command to tell you what to do. 3rd day running a mile is already coming a bit easier. once my body gets over the shock of doing something physical I will go back to running how I used to by time and miles.
Bringing this back to the top. I need some new music to listen to while I run. So what do you runners listen to?
I listen to some classic GNR, or some fast stuff like rise against, or unwritten law. I've been doing really good, i've went on a total diet, and since starting running almost 2 weeks ago, i've lost 8 pounds, and I'm feeling great! I'm up to about 1 3/4 miles, still using the couch to 10k app! Tomorrow is run day, cant wait!
I just got tired of listening to the same music over and over, I now listen to audiobooks and podcasts - if I want music I listen to pandora. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I listen to motivating speeches with music from youtube. I forget the name but it has speeches from Al pacino and denzel Washington. But I started listening to country music again
I like Avicii tunes when running. Most are high energy and I know the order they play in and it helps me pace myself on my usual running loop
Let's keep this thread going guys!! Everyday you run, post up and let us know!! I am signing up for my first 5k on june 14th.....i think i should be ready by then! I've been running 3 days a week because thats what the majority of online advice i have found. I'm almost up to 2 miles, but im not really pushing to hard, easy does it! tomorrow is run day, really looking forward to it!!!
My shin splints are starting to come back so I quit the treadmill warm up runs at the gym and backed down to 3-4 days a week. The loop I run is 3.1 miles exactly. 3 days of that and one longer day on the weekend usually. Best time recently was 23.5 minutes for 5k. I usually run at just over an 8 min pace though.
I'm worried about shin splints coming back for me as well. I kind of feel them a bit already. i read it has alot to do with how your foot hits the ground. landing on your heel is bad, also running on your front balls of your feet is bad as well...kinda confused about it.
Yeah proper form all but eliminates them... Mine are from heel striking and too long of strides... I just struggle with consciously correcting form as I run.
Congratulation on you, lately i am also running but i have an alternate run for example , i will run today 3k tommorow 5k and i really enjoy it cause in 3 month i got a nice result for my body weight cause aside from running i also used to go in gym at Fressi | Syke
Ran/jogged my first 5k this past Saturday. Only being the second time I've jogged all year I was happy with my 29:12 finish. Time to start jogging regularly again, HRA is only a few months away.
madman tell me bout the 5k? what was it like? I've never done one!! Ran today, 2 miles!! tried working on my form. i definately hit right with my foot, i worked on leaning back a bit and keeping my head up. felt better. funny in the army they dont teach you about run form at all, just to run in cadence!!! shins bothering me though...on the insides on the edges of the bone hurt.
I ran 8 yesterday morning. Starting to get hot. I'm about to have to transition all of my weekday runs to the morning, like around 4:30ish in the am instead of 4 pm. Just too hot to run with the little one. I dread getting out of bed that early in the morning. Once I'm up, I'm good, but the act of getting out of bed is always quite difficult.
I ran 3.2 yesterday. Trying to increase my distance and speed but my run starts out on a big incline that drains me. Thinking about running a canal on my long days. Also have another 5k coming up at the end of May. Swamp Stalker-- I enjoy the 5Ks because you can run with others and see how well you stack up. One thing to avoid is trying to keep up with others. You can easily get caught up in the moment and think you can run just as fast as someone else. This can easily drain you, so run at a comfortable pace.
