I'm no stranger to the run and gun style with my Lone Wolf, but I've only ever done so for afternoon sits.

I have a good buck that has been showing himself in daylight on my cams here lately. I actually had him in my food plot right in front of a blind Tuesday afternoon while I was at work. I feel fairly confident I know a ridge he travels in the morning. I know it's the rut, so a bucks pattern can vary day to day, but I want to give this a shot.

Sunday morning is the next day I can hunt and I want to grab my Lone Wolf and get in their bedroom before they get back in there. How early am I looking at trying to be setup? I'm usually 30-45 before shooting light, but given the spot and time I'll need to hang the stand I'm shooting for earlier.

Never tried this in the AM, so we'll see. Hopefully I find a good tree and luck into some decent shooting lanes. Oh yeah, it'll be in the low 20's with snow so I better dress warm!

I always try to be an hour early on run and gun. If it was early season I would say a couple hours, but this time of year I would guess an hour would be plenty.

I was thinking finished with set up an hour at the latest. This stuff is thick and wooly, but there are fresh logging trails that'll make access easier and more importantly, quieter.

Scott, I think one hour works, unless you think the buck has been pressured a lot....then maybe earlier.

I always try to be in stand an hour before first light, first light being a half hour before sunrise. If it's a set I think will take a lot of trimming them I'll plan on giving myself an additional hour, nothing worse than hanging a stand while the woods is coming alive. Good luck, will be a fun hunt I'm sure!

Here's the intended target. I'm pretty certain I passed on him last year during our firearms season, not 200 yards from these pics. You'll notice the ground blind in the background too:mad:
