It's two weeks till our largest regional 3D event, the Tupper Lake Mountain Challenge, and I have managed to shoot every night for 3 days in a row and plan to keep it up with 5-6 nights a week till the event. In the process of preparing, I ruined 4 arrows from the 60 yard mark in the past 2 days alone . I finally got a 100% final tune on the Constitution, and it's driving tacks. Right now I'm getting 308fps out of it at a measured 30.5" DL, 63lbs, and a 316 grain Pro 22. Anyone else shooting 3D still? Anyone thinking about indoors yet? Once this 3D event is over, I'll start thinking about building my indoor setup for the 08/09 indoor season. Anyone doing anything target related yet this year?
Still just tuning for the upcoming season and doing pretty dang well with all the fletching contact issues I had.
Sounds like you are in the zone Matt, let us know how it turns out. I have had a few passing thoughts of indoor. Rob and I are gonna shoot the league in Catawissa that we pretty much shot along side of last year in our Sunday jaunts. Its a fun little course. Other than that, I am just getting the CAA's in line for the season. I messed one up already.
Thanks guys. Finished the first 30 targets yesterday and am in first place (Open Class) as far as I know. They don't post day 1 scores but we know most of the people here and I'm at least 3 points ahead of everyone else that we have talked to. Really tough course in the woods up in the Adirondacks. The targets aren't necessarily long shots, but lots of up/downhill and the worst footing I've ever seen in a 3D shoot. I shot a 298 yesterday if you were counting IBO 11's (287-11x's). I'll update more when we get home tonight. Now I gotta go shoot another 30 targets and hopefully keep it together.
Don't know if anyone is following this or not, but figured I'd update........ Guess a blind mouse finds some cheese once in a while. Ended up winning Open Class with a 12 point lead on second place. Scores haven't been posted online yet but as far as I know I shot the highest score of the tournament for all classes that shot the long stake. Not bad considering I only had time to shoot about 5 3D shoots this year, and this tournament is probably the biggest (not counting Worlds) in NY or New England. There were people from all over New England, Canada, and NY there with at least a couple hundred in attendance. It's kinda nice to know I still have it even though I don't have the time I once did. I'll post some pics when I get them uploaded in the next few days.
Matt, Congrats on the win. I was wondering when you were going to update this thread. It is amazing how much time disappears once you get married, own a house, etc. Just wait till you start having kids. But until then, enjoy what time you have to put into archery. And, the time you did put in, looked to pay off. Congrats once again.
Congrats Matt, this is the first that I had read this. Can't wait to see those skills put to good use this fall buddy. Good luck.
Congratulations!!!! It's a good thing you updated this, as I just read it for the first time and would have hated to have been left hanging! :D That's awesome!
