Went back to the mountain this weekend for some scouting, shooting lane cutting, and trail cam setting. I had the camera out on this spot early in july but havent put any food out since. While making my way to my stand i saw a big mama doe who went 15 yards and stopped and looked at me. I just kept walking. When i came over the ridge and looked down i saw a rub. I am pumped because i never had rubs this early at my spot. I usually have a lot closer to the rut. I have hunted this spot for the last three years and love it because of the lay of the land. the rubs are not that large in diameter but the one on the right is up to my chest and i am 6'-2". I set up a mock scrape behind it with a licking branch. If you look close in the picture you can see the camera to the right and the mock scrape behind the rubs. Lets hope it came from this guy. When i climbed in my stand to check for shooting lanes i noticed another rub about 50 yards down the hill. Tell me thats not enough to get the old blood boiling. This is on public land in Southwestern PA so lets hope i smack this big boy. I'd make front page news for him here. LOL I plan to wait 2 weeks to check the camera then. the first day of archery make a new mock scrape where i want him to stop with a different bucks scent. All sounds good on paper but everything changes when other people hit the woods.
