I just bought (seems like every season) a pair of Field & Stream camo rubber boots. I can smell the new rubber, so I'm sure a deer could too. My last pair didn't reek. Anyway, I sprayed them down good with scent killer just to see if it would help any. Like I thought, they still smelled. So, I thought I'd wet them, cake them with mud, and let them dry for a few days. We'll see if this helps.
Does anyone have any good ideas on how to get rid of this rubbery smell?

I don't know of a good way. I usually leave mine(when they're new) on the porch but i still takes weeks to air out. I think the more you wear them the more it goes away. I've tried stuffing them with leaves and I tried baking soda and the didny seem to help.

ya leaving them outside where the fresh air could get to them, maybe put scent wafers inside the boots and keep applying scent killer to them. you might want too google for other ideas!

I do not wear rubber boots anymore but one season I purchased a pair of rubber boots that just stunk like rubber. I washed them and the whole scent killer thing...nothing. I then went outside and packed the boots in dirt and mud (the outside of the boots). and left them outside with the tops of the boots sealed up to prevent water from going down inside. I left them out there for two weeks. After two weeks I hosed them down with water to clean them off and the rubber smell had worn off a ton.

The best way is just to let them air out.
