So I'm off to one of my toughest starts to a season yet. I've logged 15 hunts and I've only seen 1 deer. I've played the wind right, switched spots continuously and sought out different food sources (corn feeders and acorn flats). I know it all can all turn around in an instant but I'm driving myself crazy thinking I'm doing something wrong. I guess this is just a real thing on the October lull that I've never personally experienced...Hunting is all about being at the right place at the right time, but man....the deer I have on camera in daylight seem to be "here today, gone tomorrow".. I'm not even getting blown at to let me know deer are in the area. I'm I'm going to keep plugging away it each weekend I can and hope something turns around. Definitely not a lot of fun when it's like this. Good luck to all the other hunters struggling! We'll get there eventually!!
Depends on what part of the country you are in, the acorns are long gone here in the northern midwest.
They are still dropping here in Texas. I've been all. Over them. Got white oak acorns bigger than half dollars still falling. I figured they would all be sour by now but not the case.
I hunt the feeders for a quick doe but my does haven't even been there. I abandon the feeders and hunt away from them to target my bucks. It's been rough.
I'm in Louisiana and they abandon my feeder when the acorns drop. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
You took the words right out of my mouth! Two weeks of hunting. 6 different pieces of public land, all tree stand hunts. Nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It sounds like you're describing my hunting area. I get pics on my cams of a few decent bucks that I never see, but that's enough to keep me coming back. Deer hunting can be frustrating, but patience pays dividends!
