I did some long distance scouting this morning, since my turkey season is coming up this week. I watched Mr. Longbeard strut his stuff with 2 of his lady friends. One of the hens laid down for approximately 10 minutes, but the Tom wouldn't breed her. As the first one was still laying there the second hen laid down and within a minute or so of her laying there, he breed that second hen. When the job was done with her, the first hen was still laying about 10 feet away, he fnally strutted over to her, stood there for awhile and then finally breed that hen. I'm trying to make a long story short, and this is what I came up with. He must have liked something better about the second hen that laid down, and when he was done with her, then he breed the first hen that laid down. In all, he breed both hens within 8 minutes. I guess everyone is happy now! Well, until Wednesday when I'm out there. He may think 4's a crowd!
