What does everyone think, was it a dirty hit? I am a rabid Bruins fan, and learned to skate before i could walk, but i think all though the hit was certainly late, I didn't find it to be that cheaap of a hit.Certainly not deserving of a 4 game suspension, which means the rest of the season. Any one else have an opinion on this?
I'm not a Boston fan and watched the crap Vancouver pulled against the Blackhawks this year. Vancouver has some cheap shot loving bastards and Rome has taken a hit like the one he dolled on Horton. With that being said I think it was late and could have been worse than it was. I am fine with the 4 game penalty, I want to watch Hockey in the Cup and not finger shenanigans and cheap hits.
Dmen When you take a run at anyone for more than 3 strides and lean into as he did with him turned away with no puck in sight. Not only did he run him, he lead with the elbow. I played semi pro hockey for a lot of years and that to me is the start to a new program that I believe Brendan Shanahan will enforce so that the future will hold longer suspensions for an undeserving head shot. Wish this was enforced in my playing days.I'm for old school hockey ,but with the size of the players these days and speed that they hit now ,it's crazy not to have some sort of policey for the players to have some safety don't you think? So when it comes down to the question, was 4 games to much??? Not in my perspective. Rocky
deff not called for.... if you look at the other view you can see him targeting and deff more than three strides. then the actuall hit was meant for the head. just lower it a few inches and blast his chest! it'll have a great effect i promise! to me growing up playing hockey we were always taught to follow thru a hit with an elbow or the rest of your arm. a bit diff from football were you can wrap up and some of that energy gets transferred to the ground with both of you falling. plus now-a-days these boys on skates are MOVING!!!!!!!!!! thats a lot of energy in one POP!
I just watched the play on fox sports. Not sure I agree with the 4 game suspension. I played hockey through high school. I was a little guy (160lbs) and I learned your head has to be on a swivel looking at all times. My bet Is that If no Injury or knockout was had the suspension would have been allot less. No doubt It's an Interference call though. Tough call to make here I guess for the NHL.
IF the intent of the league is to eliminate hits like that, 4 games is a laugher. I've only seen the hit twice at full speed replays, but I think it should have been much more. There is no consistency at all to the NHL's suspensions, and they are becoming a joke.
