Great buck. Praying for you your friends who fell. Also, what Clinton said. If anyone needs a harness. Please PM me. I have some extra ones. Not expensive ones, but they will work. The kind that has came with stands I have bought. They will work and save your life though.

Great reminder for all of us. We all need to be adamant about practicing and promoting treestand safety.

Congrats on another great buck Clinton. Can't wait to see the story unfold on BHOD.

So sorry about all the tragedy going on in your life. It seems every year there are more than enough of the same stories going on. I just do not understand why we think we are immune to gravity. Guys, please don't become a statistic. If you have a harness, WEAR IT! If you don't have one, GET ONE! it's not about you and being macho or tough. It's about our loved ones who would be left with the heartache of losing you or the burden of caring for you for the rest of your life.

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

Glad you got your buck and thanks for sharing the story. Really has to make everyone think.
I make it my business to leave a safety line on any stand I put up or hunt out of. Whether it's mine or someone else's.

Glad you were there for your buddy's Dad.

Prayers first and foremost to your buddy's dad and to the family of the one that was lost. We don't have lifelines on every stand....I think we've thought about it long enough and need to just do it...congrats on the buck.

congrats on the buck and sorry to hear about your friends. I too have a half dozen or so harnesses that came with tree stands free for the taking. I am only keeping a couple for the guys that I take with me hunting. I won't allow anyone in my woods without one on. PM me if anyone needs one(or more),

Great buck Clinton. Even though he was half blind it was almost not fair, you still did a good job. :tu:

It's amazing to me how little we often think about our own safety when climbing trees. We wear seatbelts when we drive our cars, why not harnesses and lifelines in our stands? It doesn't make sense.

The important thing for everyone to keep in mind is that WEARING A SAFETY HARNESS ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH. The majority of accidents happen while climbing up and down your tree, and stepping into and out of your stand. That's where the lifeline is extremely important. It's the one thing that can and will save your life in the event of an accident. As of this year every single stand I hunt finally has a lifeline in it and I will never hunt without one again.

    Guys,
Justin is correct on the life lines. Jakes dads stand broke when he stepped into the stand. This is where you need a life line to prevent this from happening. If you don't have lifelines you need to tie off to the tree before you step off of your sticks and in to the stand. Don't quote me on this but I think JAY from HSS told us this summer that 86 percent of all tree stand accidents happen while climbing into or out of your stand.

Justin just for the record I was nice enough to wait and shoot the deer when his blind eye was towards me. I didn't want him to have to see it coming.

Great buck and great message. Today not wearing a harness is crazy. They come free with every stand. So there's no excuse not to have one. I purchased myself a gorilla harness. So I can't count how many of the free ones I have simply thrown away. Now I realize i should be keeping them and giving them to the guys who I too know are "to cool" for a harness. Great deer! And be safe everyone. And my condolences to you and your friends family.

Clinton, you and Frank are my favorite BHOD members, and I'm glad you took the time to share this story with everyone. I had a treestand accident while I wasn't wearing a harness and it ended up ending a hunting season for me, and took me about 6 months to mostly recover. If I had been wearing a harness, the accident probably wouldn't have happened because I would have been moving more slowly and not trying to hurry things. Since watching BHOD and everyone talking about treestand safety, I've started wearing a harness and using the lifeline system and it's really changed the way I hunt, and makes me wish I did it sooner so I didn't have the memories that still haunt me from my accident.

I've never been to the BHOD meetup that happens every year, but I hope they have harnesses for people to try out and also use them with the lifeline system. It might give the people who are stubborn about wearing a harness a chance to see what it's like and in the end, maybe save someone's life and their family a lot of heartache.

Thanks for the post, and thanks a lot to the entire BHOD team for changing the way I hunt.
