Just moved into a new place over easter weekend. Got my internet hooked up Monday after work. I've been busy still getting things situated and moving smaller things. I decided to go with internet only and got a Roku box. Set it up yesterday after work. I took some time and started watching BHOD on it. Gonna be watching them all over again from the beginning. Got through the first 4 episodes of season 1 last night. I have to say that its sooooooo much better watching it on my 42" flat screen than a small tablet or computer. I'm new to Roku and am looking for any pointers or channels that are worth adding. Anybody out there that uses it please give me some suggestions. Thanks y'all.
I love my Roku box and congrats on unplugging from paid TV. Your money will be better spent elsewhere. As far as channels we use Netflix (if you have it), pandora, Crackle, Amazon Instant Video. It all depends on what you are into. There are so many channels that you can get both paid and free. Good luck.
I have been thinking about getting one for awhile. Think I might hit the store this week and finally do it! Sent from my DROID3 using Tapatalk 2
I've only messed with it a little bit but so far I'm pretty impressed. I will definitely be getting Netflix very soon.
Just a FYI. If you get a blue screen when you try to play a show simply unplug your hdmi cable and replug it back in. It happens sometimes to some people. It took us awhile to figure out what was going on.
Also a friend told me about this thing called Rabbit TV. I guess its a USB that you plug into a computer and you get unlimited cable for $10 a year. It supposedly has all the network cable channels and stuff. Anybody have one of those or know it they actually work?
Apple TV is pretty nice. My roomate has is it, and we can get Netflix and stream movies and probably some other stuff i havent figured out.
If that Rabbit thing works I would love that because its basically just like cable TV from what I'm told.
I've heard good things about AppleTV aswell Fitz. A buddy suggested the Roku to me though because its not as stringent with unlicenced materials. Meaning there's more free unfiltered channels available for Roku . I guess Apple keeps a pretty tight rope on what's available for their system and how you get it.
I will be checking into this Rabbit thing. If I need to watch a football game on ESPN or something I can plug it into my laptop and then hook up my laptop to my TV.
Exactly my thoughts. Just plug it into the laptop then HDMI from laptop to TV. :D hopefully its all that its cracked up to be. Gonna prob pick one up this weekend. I'll let you know my thoughts on it as soon as I can.
Hopefully someone on here has used Rabbit TV or knows first hand if its worth it. But hell for $10 a year, if nobody does know, I'll role the dice.
I looked at both and went with the AppleTV since I have an iPhone. The video mirroring is nice as well as the integration of all my iCloud stuff. Rumor has it that Apple is opening up TV apps this fall which would be nice. Either way, regular tv blows
Agreed about paid cable. Definitely not worth it. I actually have no Apple products so that aided in my final decision aswell. I can totally understand going with AppleTV if you have a lot of their stuff. That makes the most sense for sure.
