When an NFL player gets popped for roids, they don't go to federal court. They get a short suspension, maybe a fine and life goes on. Otherwise, wouldn't Shawne Merriman, Tim Couch and Shaun Rogers all be in prison right now? It's back page news when NFL players get caught. It's the topic of 60 minutes when a MLB star is caught. Why did the fed have to get involved at all? Because steroids are illegal? Let's go test all the professional body builders and wrestlers, too. Hell, pot is illegal, too. Round up Snoop, lets have a hanging!! I see this as nothing more than big brother stepping in where they don't belong. Just my 2 cents....
When MLB players get caught now, they don't go see the feds. It was the result of the BALCO bust. They found a lot of MLB players' names were on that list, then they noticed baseball wasn't policing this issue, then people lied, and it snowballed from there. I completely agree that is has spun out of control, and the feds/courts time could be better spent.
I didn't want to bring this up, but I heard Bush was the one that injected Clemens with HGH. Mcnamee is actually George Dubya wearing a mask. He almost gave it away when he used the word "strategery" during testimony.
I think Clemens is guilty. With that being said, MacNamee has to be the lowest of individuals I have seen in a long time. Why would you keep dirty syringes other than you know you could black mail the individual later? My view on Petite......he's a rat. Never did like him and now I have a good reason. The government won't give Clemens a deal now if he got on his knees and begged for one. He's going to jail. I just wish they would handcuff him and Bonds together and send them both. Seems like Bonds got away with it all.
I reserve judgement on guilt but. I think both sides of this issue have skeletons so the "truth" will be hard to establish.
98.2% guilty as could be. Thought that loooooooooong ago. If you're indicted by the government........... they can prove it. I think he has what he says he has. Syringes, towels, notes, dates, contacts, etc... A little creepy yes, but why would someone make that stuff up? I don't think Pettite will be dragged back into this. They have enough evidence without him. Pettite admitted to what he did and moved on (as he should've). I really believe his story too that he used for a short period of time for healing purposes. Clemens was on a different agenda IMO. If he is called to testify he will sing like a canary with everything he knows and not think twice about it.
I'm sorry but this is one of the funniest things I've read. Barry Bonds is the BIGGEST fraud that ever played baseball. The only difference is it's never been proved against him. Anyone that thinks his career was roid free has a different colored sky in their world.
You call him a rat, but his boy Clemens brought him into it with his arrogance. Mcnamee said he injected both at the same time, Pettit agreed, Clemens said it was not him. Pettit apparntly forgot what Clemens looked like even though they changed teams together. It is sad to say, but i keep telling my wife Clemens just won't go away. He keeps challenging the MAN..saying he can't wait to be cleared etc...he is in trouble. Ya'll keep saying Barry got away with it, he has a perjury trial coming up. Thing about Barry is his boy has his back, and all he ever said was he took the clear and the cream and thought they were some kind of flackseed oil. We all know that is bogus, but if he sticks to it and his boy don't roll (does not appear he will since he has/is already doing time for it) then they really have nothing on him. It is then a question of will he lie on the stand, and to avoid alot of time...i think so. In short I think Clemens is toast, and better strike a deal.
Pretty much what I think as well. Another kind of off-topic question for me is this. When A-Rod comes up for the Hall, what do you think the voters will do? McGwire isn't close to getting in yet, I highly doubt Bonds will, and Clemens is a long shot as well (and these 3 don't deserve to be IMO). To me it seems like A-Rod's steriod past may be swept under the rug by some.
I think you missed the point, NY. Barry never claimed to be "the people's man" Clemens did. Barry was completely comfortable in his ass-hole-ish-ness.
Yep....your pretty much summed up the defenition of "rat". Did Roger jam that needle in ole Andy's ass? If I hand you a crack pipe and you take a hit, I'm the one to blame? When your doing the same thing someone else is you don't tell on that person to get yourself out of trouble. Andy was a big boy and knew exactly what he was doing. Don't be a ***** and tell on someone else. It's basic principles.
shoot that rat canseco is to blame for a majority of this crap! i used to like the way he played the game when he was part of the bash'em bro. but every since he wrote his snitch book and straight up narcing on folks cause he is washed up and could use the rat money from the book and tv time. he has turned baseball into a whos next type of deal.mlb lost its appeal to me a long time ago when they dogged pete rose out! now they got these steroid shooting ass' and havent banned them from mlb or getting into the hof. its a joke!
gotcha. right...... dam I must have been tired or drunk or combination last night lol. My bad..... carry on
I am not defending the guy, please do not think that...but since they testified he had to tell it. If Andy does not tell the truth at that point then he is a co-defendent now as opposed to re habbing for the playoffs. That is all I am saying. Use your crack pipe analogy this way...you and I get caught, they say tell the truth and you both walk, we have your dealer and he is spilling it all with proof. You say OK we did it sorry, the dealer says we did it and I say, "No they did it and oh yeah, my wife did it to but not me.
Pettit a rat...nice. This isn't the mafia, its professional sports. Pettit was smart enough not to lie to the feds. He's playing baseball, whats Roger doing? Hopefully for his sake, striking a deal.
