I just recent bought a Rode videomic GO for my canon vixia hfg 10 and I plugged it into where it says MIC and I can't get any sound to come out of it when I play my video back. I also plugged it into AV OUT on the camera to see if that would work and it still didn't. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Every time I plug the mic in, the mic symbol with off next to it pops up. ImageUploadedByBowhunting.com Forums1474663938.733439.jpg

Are there batteries in it? I have the regular videomic and when I plugged it in, and turned it on.........it just worked.

You might have external audio turned off in the cameras menus. I'm not familiar with that camera so I can't specifically speak for it.

Go to the RODE website for tech support.

Maybe that model is not compatible with your model of video camera. Also, there are some counterfeit mics using the RODE name. Make sure you buy from a good source. RODE website mentions this.

The rode video GO doesn't require batteries... it uses power from the camera itself

Never mind I wasn't wrong. I thought you said the micro one. If it doesn't require batteries then you won't be able to use it with your camera. My G20 doesn't supply power through to the mic so you must buy one with a separate battery source.

I just did the same thing! Went to camera store this past weekend and told them I wanted an external mic for my g30 and they sold me the Rode mic Go. Plugged in and recorded our tailgating, got home and no sound.

What external mic would you recommend for the canon's soccerdan?

Rode VideoMic with Rycote Lyre Suspension System

This is the mic I am using on my Canon camera. It is also one recommended on another post.

lgreenslade3, that symbol "off" is what shows when an external mic is connected and the internal mic is automatically off.
