Never could understand the whole energy drink fad....

coffee, tea or some high quality H2O for me, along with a glass of juice now and then.

Oh and beer... don't forget the beer, the true energy drink

Coffee is basically an energy drink especially when sugar is added to it.

    Right On!

Lots of good replies but to dive in here a bit is there a BowHunter around that can "break it down" as to content, effects, lingering effects, or impacts on kids in school still.

I am no M.D. but having so many RockStars back then and doing the work required I know about the heart rate and pushing the limits of just what a body can take and thus my relationship with the drink ended. Snake Oil?

Yeah, this is the thing. My burn rate and highly active career then would almost substitute for justifying the "Rocket Fuel" as it was sweated out and chased with water or Gatorade. That still does not give it the "correct" stamp of approval but "ehh" it was at local store so "how bad can it be?" Right?!!
The low activity less than athletic kids would be from my view at a higher risk as their hearts are not as strong and their pulse is light.

Never had one, do not drink caffeine in any form (that I know of). My wife and I drink schweppes flavored seltzer water. Right now we have 40 twelve packs in our closet of different flavors. If I do drink soda it is caffeine free diet Pepsi.

I have friends who drink upwards of 2 cans a day and try to convince me it's good for you. Biggest load if crap I have ever heard and I always tell them they are going to have a heart attack. Some people just won't learn till it's too late. That's stuffs toxic and I'll never touch a drop. Exercise produces all the natural energy I need.

I drink them, not sure why since I don't notice any energy boost after having one.

I tried an energy drink about 7 years ago, and like a few others said, the whole heart race thing scared the crap out of me. havent had one since. my doctor told me stay very far away from them.
I gave up soda about a month and a half ago, and now drink carbonated flavored water for the fizz effect, i highly recommend it!

I don't drink them very often and when I have had them I had no noticeable benefits. They're too expensive to justify spending that much money with no results. It's interesting how variable the effects are for different people. I've had a few 5 hours as well and didn't really notice anything either. I usually have a cup or two of black coffee in the mornings but that's about it nowadays.

Yeah, I drink a Monster Energy maybe once every 3 months and I can't tell any difference after drinking one.

I am loving me some sweeet ice tea. The effects of the energy drinks in my case were more of a money pit than a real boost in the morning. It seemed that the "drop" was ever present and associated costs to "up the anti" were beginning to factor in. The coffee drinks have adopted this revenue stream by branding "energy" with their various canned products but the ever present question remains.. "What are we consuming?" and is it really better than traditional coffee, juice, water, and work? I have already chosen the traditional route to hydrate and keep the energy levels up and the trade off in increased holdings finds my truck riddled with less empty cans and more Bowhunting Gear. Perhaps a nutrition expert may know a bit more.

Read the label. It's not rocket science. Caffeine and sugar mostly.

No long lasting lingering effects. No worse for you than beer or soda. Just don't drink in excess

I drank energy drinks since they came out until 2011. I stopped. I had a irregular heartbeats, other things associate with this. Now I don't drink it, irregular heartbeats and other stuff went away. Took about 3 weeks for the withdrawals, headaches and such to dissipate! It was tough but I feel better now.

I never got into sodas, energy drinks or even coffee. The only time I have a 5hr energy drink is on stand and maybe I'll buy a Red Bull for a late drive home from hunting but thats it. I buy Cuban coffees for everyone in the mornings but that's more for the taste.

But Yeah SpotnStalk. I don get all these candy energy drinks and the adults drinking them and their expensive. One or two of those a day is some serious coin at the end of the month.

Being in college and working a full time job, I do sometimes drink them. During the week between work and school I might get 3-5 hours of sleep a night, so when I'm driving 40 minutes home from school at 11 pm that little extra burst of energy is what I need to make it home. I know it is bad for me and that is why I don't drink them very much. If it wasn't for that then I probably would never drink them. Being eating and drinking healthy while in college is a lot harder then it should be...

I've never had one and never will. I can't believe the number of people at work that walk through the door in the morning with a open "Monster" in hand... About as stupid as Starbucks..... I am guilty though... I do enjoy a coke over ice! Has to be a fountain....
