Hey guys, I am looking for some info regarding the rivers edge stands, preferably the hang-on stands. I am looking at purchasing the big foot XL classic or the one with the back rest option. I read through some older post and some of you said that the RE products creak in colder weather. How cold are we talking about, below freezing, sub-zero? I hunt South East TX so most of the season is in the 70s-40 degree temps at the coldest, with it dipping below freezing maybe once or twice during the season. Any info on their products would be appreciated.

Yes, I know most are heavy but weight doesn't really bother me much.

I've used the XL for years and have no complaints. I can sit all day in mine and be plenty comfortable. No it's not the most amazing stand in the world but, for the money it's worth it. I hunt in MI where the temps will get below freezing but don't notice any extra noise unless I really start moving around on the platform.

Did you add any extra cushion to them?

No, but if you really wanted to you could add another cushion. The replacement seats are only $15 at ****s.

use a BigFoot XL, have it hung all season. Most of late season is in the snow with temps between 0 and 30 degrees. Haven't noticed any extra noise once I have it locked into the tree. Definitely not anywhere near being light, but since I put it up once and leave it all season weight isn't an issue for me.

With other budget friendly stands that stay hung all season I have put nylon washers on both sides of every nut/bolt. Pretty much eliminates all creaking.

I have the rivers edge ladderstand, I like it a lot. not the biggest seat and platform but does have flip up seat. I have thought about buying another one. Also love their sticks, work great for me for the price.

I highly recommend the Rivers Edge Bigfoot XL, they are super comfy and not to hard on the wallet

You add an extra cushion to yours at all. I got some old pillows laying around that I'm not going to use anymore. I'm thinking about using one of them. Seat looks a little thin

I've just always used the cushion that comes with the stand and take them off in the winter so they don't get all chewed up.

If you are real concerned run to the local hardware store and get some nylon washers and put them wherever metal meets metal on all bolts.

Not to hijack the thread, but why don't you buy one lightweight quality stand that is silent.take it down every time.IMO the Lone Wolf is the best there is!

Why would I take it down all the time? I am on a lease where I can just leave it all season? And honestly I'm a pretty big guy (6'5 235). Lone wolf has some pretty small platforms. With a size 14 boot I want some room on my platform lol. They look nice as all get out but I don't mind a little heavier stand to hang, doesn't bother me at all.

The price helps too. Farm and fleet has them on sale for a good deal.

I purchased one off sportsmans guide yesterday. Got free shipping on it but upgraded for $5 to get it in three days by Friday so I can set it out this weekend :tu:
