What is truly sad about this is that people such as Williams can go about his life making everyone laugh and smile but are living in deep depression within themselves... Sad to see him go.
Sad indeed, but soldiers with depression or PTSD commit suicide every day which will never make the news. Not to take away from Robin Williams, but this happens all the time. It breaks my heart to know that someone is so down that they resort to killing themselves.
I agree and they keep calling it tragic. Tragic for us that he entertained or tragic for the friends and family now dealing with his suicide and the fact that they didn't stop him. Personally I feel the act of suicide is very selfish and is more meant to hurt the ones that love you. Don't know if he was a Christian but just goes to show money, success and fame does not guarantee happiness I guess. I'll miss his work thats for sure.
It needn't be sad, he was in pain , now he is not, he lived well, and made many people smile. so many of us should strive to do the same, lets celebrate the greatness that was Robin Williams.
Many of you know my story with suicide... so sad indeed! Nobody really knows the internal demons he was fighting - he lost his war to them (in our eyes)... in his, perhaps he felt he won. Hopelessness has to be a terrible feeling...
he also did a lot of charity work with veterans and the USO. IMO, his best work was Good Morning, Vietnam because it showed every facet of his talent in one role, and also because the film itself enlightened me as to just how badly bureaucracy FUBARs everything it touches. (I wouldn't really appreciate that aspect of the film until later in life; but hooo boy was that movie a heckuva example of that.) I will say this, though...today's coverage was way overblown. In my office one end of the bullpen has CNN on all day, the other has FoxNews. Both ran wall-wall coverage for most of the day.
That's the nature of 24 hour news stations, find any little morsel of information and beat it to death.
