    So sorry to hear Tony.

9 is young for most breeds, but there are a handful of breeds that rarely make it that old like Great Danes, etc.

Depends on the size and breed of the dog, but for Jack, it was way too soon!

He became diabetic due to in part being over weight. He was getting insulin shots but he just went down hill and was almost totally blind at the end.

Sorry to hear. It's never easy no matter how many times you go through it.

Very sad. Nine is too young for a small dog. But all good dogs die far too soon, even if they'd live to 20.

Sorry to hear of this. 9 for me seems to be the number for my last 2 dogs and not my present on is having spine deteration making it very hard for her to walk on her hind legs. She will be 9 this Dec if she makes it that long. She is really keen with all her senses but I know she is depressed by not being able to do the things she used to. I dread the day.

He was young for his size Tony:( Sometimes they go before we think they will, but you and the family gave him a great life Brotha. He was lucky to have you guys and I am sure you were lucky to have him.

Last week I had to put my 8 year old German Shorthair down. I felt he was young, but the vet said because he was bigger framed that he was a "senior" dog.

Sorry to hear that Peak. I know, it sucks. A few years ago I had to put down my beloved chocolate lab after 13 great years of friendship. He was having issues with his hips and started to take seizures toward the end.

It's a hard thing to do, but its still better than letting them suffer.

Sorry to hear that. It does seem young.

But my parents had a dog that only made it 8 years.

As I said to Cody, having just been through it in November, I know the feelings you're having very well. A very sad and empty feeling, yet at the same time I knew I did the RIGHT thing for one of my truest friends I'd ever had.
