I am in between a rock and a hard place, i am choosing between a mission riot RTH package or i could go with a ballistic and add stuff to it later on. this will be my first bow, so im a little worried about dropping 500 on just a bow. anybody have any info on which would be better and maybe if i go with the ballistic, some good budgeted addons?

I had a Riot and it was a great bow. I shoot a 28.5" draw length and it can't be set for 1/2" increments, so I ended up getting rid of it. I shot the Ballistic and really loved it. It had a slightly smoother draw and a better wall than the Riot did. I don't think you'd be unhappy with either bow, but I would go with the Ballistic myself. It's a better bow all around.

In that price range, there are some others to look at as well. Today there are a lot of good bows on the market, the difficult part is finding the one that puts the biggest goofy smile on your face when you shoot it.

My suggestion, is to go shoot as many bows as you can get a chance to before making a decision. That's part of the fun anyhow, trying new things.

Hoyt offers the Charger, and for a few bucks more, you can get a bare Bowtech Assassin (or one of the Diamond bows) and even PSE has several in their lineup at that price point.

You may find that a package bow is the way to go, or you may decide to kit it out with the accessories that you want and spend a little more on the bow itself.

I just bought a ballistic and love it. If you search my old threads you can see it. I love how smooth it draws amd how solid the backwall is. You really cant go wrong with this bow.

I have tested out both the Riot and the Ballistic... I liked both, but the flexibility of the Riot, the weight, and the way it sat in my hand, although I ended up with the Craze (similar to the Riot only smaller). Honestly, if you are just getting started and on a budget. I would go with the Riot. Last year was my first year bow hunting and I am also on a restricted budget, I used a guy's old bow from my church last fall and this spring I ended up ordering the Mission Craze (picking it up at the end of April), mostly because it is a very good bow in price range, and allows me to afford to put on some good accessories. My outfitter suggested I buy the bare bow and add on my own rest, stabilizer, sight etc... Just my opinion, but no matter what direction you go Mission has great bows and you won't be disappointed.

The riot and ballistic are both nice bows. I've shot both of them but like bounty said the ballistic felt a smoother and had a better back wall to me the only thing I'd say is look into maybe putting a focus grip on it and that thing would be perfect!
