Definitely a Sabot. Dont use a rifled slug. Only use a rifled slug for a smooth bore barrel.

Rifled barrel = smooth slug (Sabot)

    Smooth barrel = rifled slug

I have both for my Remington 870. I use the smooth bore for practice and home defense. I sight in with the sabot slugs for a couple of rounds and hunt with that. At about $3-5/round sabots get expensive.

you can shoot rifled slugs through a slug barrel but you are going to have some serious lead fouling and it won't be as accurate. Hence only use Sabots in rifled barrels.

Yes, you must shoot sabots. The rifling of your barrel and the rifling of a rifled slug twist in opposite directions. This will clog the rifling of your barrel badly. Cleaning the lead out of your barrel is not something you want to get yourself into.
