Hope everyone had a safe and productive opening day today (for those who rifle hunt)! I know this is a "bowhunting" site, but most bowhunters I know rifle hunt. So, here's to you all. Good luck!

Man, what a perfect day for the second day of gun season here in MO. For the first time this season it's COLD.. amazing. I've been wishing for a day like today all season. Finally it comes, and it's during rifle season... shyte!

I went out yesterday until about noon an didn't see jack. Didn't here a ton of gun shots which is a good thing. It sure was windier in heck.

My buddies brother saw 7 single does and not a single buck in tow on any of them. Not sure what's going on here in MO but seems as things have cooled down a bot from week ago.

Grats guys... After talking with several of my friends and family that are avid deer hunters (gun more than bow) it seems we're having a slow year. Maybe too many acorns or something.... My cousins farm usually produces several 140s size deer, but this year they have only killed two bucks.. one a ten with broken tines and a nice six.. neither huge (110-120s). They have a lot of large deer on cams, just not seeing them in field. Glad to hear you guys are putting them on the ground! I can't wait for Wednesday so I can hunt again!

You don't have to wait until Wednesday; you simply have to purchase a firearms permit which allows you to keep on bowhunting ...

The nice thing about that is that if you kill a buck on your firearms permit, you've still got the two buck tags left from your archery permit. :)
