Yes, if the league continues to allow it then the league needs to check itself before it wrecks itself.
The NFL is about entertainment these days. The whole building character through football is being put to the test beginning even in little league. A lot of dirt bag coaches allow even the youngest of kids to get away with terrible sportsmanship. We have little kids running around at age 8 years old acting like they are God's gift to the world. So what I am saying is I am not surprised in the least about the way a lot of NFL players are acting these days. Their actions mirror the crap actions that are becoming more prevalent in today's society.
I disagree. I don't have someone following me around to make sure I don't act like a d-bag. I wont get fined for treating people like trash. Its called being a human with some self respect. They are adults and should not need to be told by the league what is appropriate behavior. To act like that at any level is to have no respect for yourself or the game. He may have had intelligence in the classroom, but he sure doesn't show it on the field. That boy is like school on Saturday...............no class.
Then continue to gripe with your self righteousness because these actions will not stop and only continue to inspire our youth to do the same.
Couldn't agree more and when the top shelf of the sport allows it then we reinforce the actions on our youth. It is as simple as suspending guys a game or two for lashing out and betraying the professional integrity of the sport.
I know for myself, I have been turned off the NFL for several reasons. One of which is the look at me attitudes by the players and another are all the new rules that gives all the advantage to the offense. I still watch on occasion, especially big games but I have lost a lot of interest in the game. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
The guy comes off as an uneducated hood rat, I understand he's not but that's the way he decided to portray himself. It's a good PR move on his part because there are a ton of conversations about him right now. Can you say renegotiation. I know Seattle is a good team but their whole attitude stinks, from Sherman to not selling tickets to anyone from California. Childish and uncalled for in professional sports. I hope Karma comes and bites him in the a$$, keep the smack talk on the field and out of the media and we would all be better off for it. IMO
Why does first take (steven A and Skip) always turn things into being racial? What's the difference if he was black, white, mexican, etc... He spouted his mouth off like an idiot either way. Why is it viewed different because he's black? If Peyton Manning or Wes Welker went off in their interviews would it be different?
He would have been talked about anyway, his play on the field would have earned that. Now that has been completely overshadowed. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
This guy confuses me really. He's very contradictory. I think he's young and needs to find himself. He was a honor student in the middle of Compton. He was volunteering to help the special olypmpic in high school. All his coaches say he is not just one of the most outstanding talents they've ever seen, but person as well. He's hugely philanthopic. He strives to be the best at his position. Would I want my child looking up and following after that, very much so. then you have this other side of him. The side that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when you speak his name. The type that berates his opponents and throws choke signs up for no apparent reasons. The kind that is the poster child for a bad sportsman. This is something we teach our kids not to be. Every fan wants someone who is humble and wins with modesty. Sherman himself said he wants to be judged for his actions off the field. I agree with this. Unfortunately, after he had a chance to cool down and in front of the media well after the game, he still was hugely unsportman about it. I really want to like him. I think he could be a great person. I'm just not sure why he acts the way he does. It's completely contradictory to how he lives his life. Is it all a game he is playing? Does he think making that image will help him in some way? Is that what he has to use for motivation? It's a shame because if you take the talent that is Richard Sherman combining with the person that is Richard Sherman, you could have an athlete that is best in his position, and is loved by all but the rival team's fans, and even they know they should like him.
Yeah I hear ya indy. But the true person always surfaces. These actions aren't his first rodeo. He's a good corner. A good player. Shut up and play. Shake hands after. And all this because he got his fingers on a ball and tipped it lol. What about the dude that made the interception? What happened to his interview? To me that was as good of a play to be there in that position.
Because Skip Bayless will say whatever it takes to get him ratings. The guy is a first class douchbag Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So, I know we have hashed this out but there is an NFL video with Sherman mic when he ran up to Crabtree. Guess Crabtree is a classless guy as well since Sherman says "Good Game, Good Game" with his had out to shake Crabtree's hand only to get his helmet shoved. Now that might not fire some of you up like it did Sherman but Crabtree should also be a tool considering the banter we have had in here with professionalism. In the post game interview, when he is sitting down, he says something to the effect that he just told him good game and I told him I was the greatest. Can't find it and can't remember but for me, I said he should have been punched in the throat for the choke sign and I said it immediately. It didn't take any post game comments for me to see his true colors. Apparently this is normal behavior for him and the league needs to do something. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
Was that supposed to prove good sportsmanship or class?? I'm confused. If anything it reinforces the opposite. I would venture to say it was far from a genuine "good game". Maybe some sarcasm? Perhaps?
again LOL at anyone how thinks Sherman's "good game, good game" was not meant to antagonize Crabtree. Are you people really that naive? But yes, Crabtree is a d**** as well. I thought that was known already.
