I keep looking at the date on my computer at work and I’m like damn!, what am I doing here. Then I look at the forecast. I’ll wait for the next cold front lol
Yea I had a frustrating weekend and went into partial cry baby mode. My youngest son is moving for the 4th time in just over 2 yrs. He has had 3 weeks to start moving things out and hadn’t accomplished anything. So he texts me Friday night and says the people he had lined up to help him backed out. So needless to say I spent Saturday helping him move. Now the forecast shows hot weather again for the next 10 days. Rather than get frustrated fighting it I’m just gonna finish final prep on a few spots and just wait for late October. That is of course unless a big deer shows up on camera in the meantime with a really dumb look on his face.
57 and drizzling rain. NNW wind. Not ideal for where I wanted to hunt, but i have a good observation blind that the wind is good for and I will be able to see the are where i want to sit when conditions are right.
We are hovering right below 90 here in St. Louis. I killed my last big buck at 84 degrees. I just hate stinkingvup the woods and I hate mosquitoes. I need to move
In the stand, bumped something on a ridge over, I couldn’t tell if it was a buck or not. Just glad to be in the woods!
And here in Oklahoma I always think I need to move back to central Missouri bc they have better temps..
Saw two really young 6 pointers sparring about 15 yards from the stand. Plus the one I bumped. Can’t complain for day 1 and 85 degrees.
well....I saw a pile of deer last night in the rain. 25-30 does and 5 bucks. Had my #1 buck at 90 yards for 20 minutes...twice, and watched him walk under my south wind stand...twice. I also saw an ancient 8+ year old 8 point, and 3 young bucks. Pretty awesome opening evening!
I'm leaving work an hour early today to go back after the buck I saw yesterday. Wednesday will be 87 degrees and I have church Thursday so it will be my last chance for a couple days.
I may go out this evening. Went to the bow shop at lunch time and all is good. Its 86° right now but overcast and on the downhill slide.
Also, I put out some cottonseed hulls the other day, Friday to be exact, they are gone already. I like to put them out maybe two or three times a season, they tear it up. I put some out this spring in an old concrete wire tomato cage with my mineral supplement, they damn near ate the wire cage trying to get after them.
Out for the evening sit. This may be a little concerning but the weather shows it south of us 40 miles. It's not raining so I'm in to hunt! Sent from my XT1710-02 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I’m having a terrible hunt. Got busted twice by the same deer 20 yards into the woods from my yard, fought my climber, dropped my release... should have went back but I’m too stubborn
I'm on stand. Sweating my ass off but the wind is in my favor. When I said the temp was at 86 and falling.. it fell to 84 and the sun came out. Forgot to pack my treated socks and just wore flip flops out to the farm so, rubber lacrosse boots and no socks, dumped about a 1/4 jar of carbon synergy in the boots. Oh well, still beats being at work!
Gotta love those early season hunts! That’s okay you’ll get all that out of your system and be a deer slaying lethal weapon by the time season ends.
