So stoked for you to have taken your first buck with a bow and it’s even better that we get to share in the experience in the way that we are. This is great.
Alright man! Nice job! These are the rules for entering it. I just copied and pasted them. 3. All entries must be accompanied by a minimum of TWO (2) photos of the hunter with the deer and your archery equipment in the picture. If you can manage to take one picture, you can also manage to move 4 feet to the side and take another one. It's not that hard. There will be NO exceptions to this rule. Two photos with hunter, deer, and bow in photo or it won't count. If you submit a deer without two photos, it will not count. Consider this your warning. This goes for both does as well as bucks.
That’s so cool countryfam. I’m all about the stories so if you feel like it later let’s hear it. If not no big deal. Congrats again on your first buck with bow. Man I love this stuff!
Well.... I planted a 1/4 acre of beans, sorghum, lab lab, clover, and buckwheat back in May. I didn’t think the beans would even grow because of seed depth. I didn’t think I got them deep enough. I had soil tests done in January and amended the soil accordingly. I got some free seed from a guy at work so I planted it hoping to keep the weeds at bay through the summer until I planted cereal rye this month. I wanted something for the deer to eat in early spring when it’s a barren wasteland. This was not planted to be a kill plot although I have a stand about 30 yards from that telephone pole. So I’m leaving it, too thick to get any germination I suspect. I’ll have some standing beans/lab lab come late season if need be, but there still hammering these green leaves on the beans.
Congrats!! Any deer is a trophy if it's a trophy to you. Glad to hear our team is getting it started. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Dude that's nice. I think leaving it will be a benefit. Frost seed it next March! I am a firm believer in buckwheat, they tear it up around here and it gives everything else in a plot a chance to thrive. This may be a little nerdy and I would like to hear y'alls take on it to but when you look at the protein/vitamin/mineral content in buckwheat it really earns its name. I am honestly thinking about doing large strips of it next year in my perennial plot, turning them under every 6 weeks and re-seeding. I think a lot about plots, probably way too much..
Mathew Scott’s one and only post was his request to be added to the alternates list and he hasn’t been on the site since. Not saying he won’t show and I hope he does but isn’t there a 25 post minimum rule for a reason?
We have 10 and I think the target is 12. The defending champs have 12 I believe. To me it shouldn’t matter. They should simply go by Avg score per team member for teams with unequal number of members. That is pretty straightforward and would be hard to argue with but I have no idea if that is what they do or not. I get a feeling it isn’t. In the end it’s just for fun and meeting people and making friends anyway. I’m very happy to go with the team we have already. If these other guys join us then its even better... more people to get to know and root for.
I’m going to plant it early next year. I’m trying to do a hillbilly version of what Grant Woods is doing with the buffalo system. Mainly due to not having any equipment. Next year, I’ll be doing straight buckwheat and soybeans in the early season. #wheelhorse #craftsman #runwhatchubrung
That's more like what I am wanting to do. I am tired of hauling tractors! I have an old cub cadet that I am having rebuilt. I figure my plots have been worked enough that i can get away with a smaller tractor and disc harrow if i am just planting strips.
Awesome deer!! Love the velvet, I'm hoping to get up to Kentucky next year early September for some velvet bucks!
If my math is correct. 49 3/8. Someone wanna double check it. Wife is double checking it for me also. I'll post to the scorecard here soon. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
