Getting new shoes on the pickup at 2, then headed down to the property around 230. Meetings till then. Later fellas.
States buy yearly NR lics and or tags Arizona 150ish Nevada 160 ish Utah 90 ish Colorado 90 ish NM 80 ish Idaho…not every year but close too it ..250 Alaska 200 KY 400…with tags Illinois 500 with tags NY 100 license and tags That’s all before I draw tags and pay application fees . I figure another 1500 plus in nonrefundable costs: Plus any licenses and tags I buy in Canada because I hunt there a lot. Canada licenses and tags are cheaper even pre exchange rate. NR cost suck yes, but honest I get it. I don’t see things slowing down for the next 10 years till the boomers are out of the picture. And even then I don’t think cost will come down, however they may flatten out a bit.
This is a really well written article, from one of my favorite publications https://www.hatchmag.com/articles/d...SxHMdooWFJ11C_aT2whkR8P69fqDV4fLmWtWbrSDPcJps
Show the picture from last year! My guess is that he is 3, rut will come in a that body is going fill out excellent.
Couldn’t get it done this morning, got really close but got busted by a bachelor group with some really nice bucks in it… pretty happy for going into a spot blind in the dark and having 6-7 bucks within 30 yards!!
Good lord I forgot how much crap I needed to organize. Gonna be an early wake up, but I'm almost ready. Me and my lady had a great dinner and drinks, clothes are washed, and all my sh!t is in a pile (Yall probably aren't used to that level of redneck vernacular.) Means I'm ready...for the most part.
I put up a stand on my back southwest corner. I been seeing some kick ass bear sign near there. Relocated a cam there too. Then I came and cut two 75 foot oaks behind my house. They are just too big and too close to the back of the house. I am going to miss the shade but sleep better. Holy Bat S hit I am out of shape…. Slim down and work out.
Planted food plots with a brassica mix Aug 25th because it was supposed to cool off and there was a good chance for rain 3 of the next 7 days. It rained a whopping .15" the next day. Fast forward to today it's been in the high 90s / triple digits every day since and we haven't had a drop of rain. Checked the plots and absolutely no germination, not even a weed to be seen in any of the three plots! Not sure what to do at this point. Almanac has the first frost date of Oct 16th. Do I just let it ride and see what happens or try to replant? If I seed again, should I seed the same mix or try something more favorable to cooler weather and that is frost tolerant? Not sure what that would even be? Rye grass? Never have I ever been in this situation. Any thoughts? Property has a 2.5 acre pond. Maybe I should bury some hard lines so I can pump water in the years to come? Why is it so hard to grow stuff? Couldn't imagine what a farmer goes through!
My plot did the same thing, I was a week or two earlier and sat it for the first time yesterday and there was 0 new growth… not sure what to do either, I will probably just throw some seed down next time I head down there and see what happens
If the seeds didn't germ, they are still there ready for a rain. Overseeding (brassicas to heavy) is not a good thing. Really to late anyway. Bout your best option now is Rye.
Well boys I got in the stand this morning. Had a buck go by and later a fox then a mom and baby. I'll have plenty of chances at a nanny no need to kill one with a fawn. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
Sorry I’ve been quiet guys. I’m working on one of the projects I need to complete before the 30 th. Making a new dining room table out of pieces of Sapele mahogany I’ve been salvaging from work. Won’t cost me a dime for material. Hope to finish it by end of next weekend to get it to a buddy to put finish on it.it’s gonna be sweet when it’s done.
