Think this buck is a 6/6 he hasn’t left a 5 acre circle in like 4 weeks. Lazy, guy in the summer. As of yesterday he hasn’t shed his velvet yet. He was hanging with a clean 10 that shed last week and he moved about 1/2 mile away to the other end of the farm. He hasn’t been there all summer. Interested to see what this guy does compared to last season
My dream is to kill a 12 point. A 6 x 6 would be ideal but any 12 point would do. I’ve killed a couple of 11 points, but I just can’t break that barrier.
Yeah. The farmer that leases from us was is always complaining and Quite frankly exaggerating the amount of deer he sees in the crops, so we do inventory with a drone to get down to real number and not exaggerated bullshit. I told him if he doesn’t want to till we would have plenty of other use for it, that changes his tune pretty quickly
I've been wanting to get a drone as well, but proposed legislation has caused me to pause in the past. It seems like there is a trend to ban drones for hunting purposes which really sucks because I think they are great for recovery. scouting, inventory ect.... I have even seen them used to "clear the field" to get out of a stand location undetected. I guess anything can be misused from someone's perspective. @trial153 How do deer typically respond to "flyovers"? What altitude do you need to prevent them from spooking? Have a drone recommendation if you know a lot about them? I think in the past I was looking at the DJI mini 3?
I've been on a mission to get each "point" up to my max deer. So far I have everything up to 13 points except a 2 pointer (spike) or a Michigan 11 pointer as they call them lol.
Looking through pictures and thought I would share. Got a mature doe on camera It’s right next to a creek that is always covered with tubers. Looks like she must have had to relieve herself on my mock scrape. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I shot one with 21 scorable points. I will probably never top that. The 200" deer still illudes me. May call it quits if I ever kill one. Then again, probably not!
We don’t use it anytime in regards to hunting, fell like it blurs the lines a little to much. For example in recovery, is it still ethical to use. I question that. Personally I don’t believe that a dead deer is wasted just because I am not the one that recovers it. It gets consumed by the ecosystem and nothing is wasted. I use that a example of the gray areas drones use will introduce into the conversion. We fly it high enough that the deer pay no attention to it at all. From a management perspective it’s been super valuable. I am not an expert on the technical side of it as far models and features. I know we have one that has really good range and can fly high enough that it’s not noticed. It also has infrared and decent camera. As you can see those pictures were taken from high enough that the deer doesn’t know its there.
I've been trying to break the 170" mark, but best so far has been 167". Missed one two years ago sadly that would have broken it. Hit a sapling and watched my arrow explode in front of the buck.
Killing a 150+" 6 pointer would be right up there with a 200 incher. Or a piebald buck that is 140" or better.
I wish our state would raise our NR license fee. We are at $165 currently...meanwhile every surrounding state is making bank on NR's including my idiot self lol
