Get some ideas from the team. ~ the bulldozer is widening the pond going to north to make a pinch point, should be done Wednesday - the brush hogged area was think briars and hardwood saplings, so think the deer had few trails though it, and to the pond, and one main trail out to the east. It’s been sprayed once and will be sprayed twice more if needed -deer bed in the north woods on the two bench’s going into the steep ravine. -the two west fields are clover mixes. On any given night there will be 20 plus deer on them ~ The flatter southeast woods always have rutting activity. Here is the Question. Half the newly mowed area will be planted with high native bedding grasses mixed. The other half will be some type of fall feed. Which would you plant where? Top is west and bottom is east
I have zero experience with this, so I suppose my first consideration would be what is the prevailing wind? Here during bow season it's out of the west or southwest almost all of the time so if it were me I'd plant the west end in bedding grass and the east end in browse. Other than that I can't help you much. All I have to hunt is rocks and trees.
I would say with the wind you normally get I would also plant bedding grass on west side and food source on east. I also have no experience with planting anything on a hunting property. The farmer on the property usually takes care of that for me. I just put sets up at different spots for different wind directions. I would love to put some food plots in some of the fields he doesn’t plant anything in but I don’t really have the time to do that at this point. I have beans and corn mostly but there is one ****ty hayfield that seems to have been left go this year. It’s shoulder high weeds with some alfalfa hidden at the bottom. Not enough food plot experience to comment but I will be watching to see what you choose and the result! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Hey guys, just because I asked that the chat be cooled off a bit doesn’t mean you can’t post here. I guess we ran out of things to say.
We all got busy chorin before season starts! That was what I was referring to in the calm before the storm comment. It got real quiet here
All seriousness don't make the same mistakes I have on out of state hunts. Get an opportunity at a deer you wouldn't pass in state, take the shot! Last 3-day trip to NE, I was in the stand no more than 1 hour and had a 150" deer come in and 360 around my stand. At one point he was 7 yards and I was at full draw and let down. I couldn't do it... Didn't want to sit in camp the next 3 days while everyone else was hunting. Boy was that a mistake. Wind picked up and started gusting to 50+ mph. It did that for the next 2 days and none of us ever saw another deer. Worst part is that same deer walked by my buddies stand at 45+ yards and he said he thought he was much bigger than 150. That's twice I should have filled the tag hunting out of state and I didn't... lol
Just getting caught on my reading. lol! Spent the weekend with my oldest boy. First year away from home at college and he came home for the extended weekend. Didn't know how much I would really miss him until he was gone.
Holiday makes for a short week. Which sounds good in theory but more often than not makes for a $hitton of work and 4 10hr days Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk

I hate technology sometimes. Earlier today I went and traded my dying iPhone 11 for an iPhone 14. That was painless. What has had me pulling my hair out for the last two hours is trying to pair my Apple Watch to the new phone. The only internet we have here in the hills is our iPhone hotspots so I had to connect my phone via WiFi to my wife’s phone hotspot. Needless to say it was slow. Now I’m fighting with setting up cellular on the watch and it won’t recognize my address as a valid 911 address. I remember having this problem when I first got the watch but I don’t remember what I did. I probably called AT&T customer service and spoke to some Indian guy I could barely understand named George. I guess I’ll deal with it tomorrow.
I know that feeling. Just met up with my daughter for the weekend. Havnt seen her in forever. Hated to leave!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
