I was feeling like I needed to replace my Scent Blocker APEX rain outfit last year into this year however, the more I read up on retreating waterproof garments, the more I felt like...that was all that was needed.

I washed the outfit in Nikwax wash, then treated with Nikwax softshell proof. All is completed! But wait....

The outfit smells like chemicals :(

I think I will need to rewash the gear to get the chemical scent out. Open to your ideas and feedback. Is there a DWR brand that you all like? My research showed Nikwax was one of the more popular brands of DWR.

Don’t bother rewashing, per se…. Just play the wind the smell will fade.

But if you didn’t, put the garment in the dryer after retreating, you should (with the appropriate temp setting). The heat helps cure the dwr.
