This year its going to be mainly squash and pumpkins. As of now I have orders for 35,000 pumpkins and 50,000# of squash. I'll be test planting strawberries, summer squash, cucumbers and a few other things. One of those being sweet corn. I really don't want to grow sweet corn, but may have to as a rotational crop.
I would really like updates on that, my family has large farm. I have often toyed with the idea of expanding it to include more produce. We do quite a bit of sweet corn already, but nothing to sell.
Once we close on the land I'll start a thread with some of the things I'm doing there. If you're looking to grow produce to sell, the biggest thing is having an outlet for it. Like the local Extension agent said, "Growing it is the easy part, marketing is the hard part." I'm just extremely fortunate that I have the connections to get pretty much anything I can grow sold.
Good luck to you in the new venture. It sounds like a good set up and a great place for kids to grow up.
Yeah actually I do, my family owns a huge produce stand. (Not a small business) Just trying to decide what I could add.
^^^Justin LMAO....................Dan'o love the new place and happy for you doing what you love now. Im gonna miss you here, please drop in some time and say hey. I have your number soooo I can still bug ya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good job Dan. Getting a chunk of land like that to work on is awesome. It looks to me that you still stand a chance at a big one, if you take a day or two out of your busy schedule and hunt that funnel by the creek. Awesome tractor! That will make short work of your driveway with a rear blade or grading scraper. Good luck.
