Qad ultra drop away hunter rest Or Nap Apache Which one or neither? Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
I've had both of these rest, I liked the QAD more because it stays in the up position even if you have to let down your draw. The Apache was great just a little bulky and couldn't lock in the up position, the over the top arrow loader kind of bugged me because my arrow would hit my sight, that issue was fixed on the carbon model. I haven't had the carbon Apache but I've heard it was a nice rest also. As of now I have the QAD ultra rest HDX and it is an awesome rest.
The extra $80 is getting you more precise machining, all metal guts, the fastest drop, and no bounce back when it does drop. It is money well spent. I have the predecessor on my bow, and it has lasted thousands of shots (3 shot out strings worth). My daughter has the HDX on hers, and it is really nice. The Hunter is their pricepoint model. They had to make some compromises to get there. It is still not a bad rest, but if you're serious about shooting, the extra money is worth the peace of mind. IMO if your going to spend $100+ go with a limbdriver pro v. I've tried trophy takers both qad rests and the apache and I think the pro v is the best. I still have all those other rests Ill sell one to you 1/2 price of a new one. You don't like it send it back to me ill send you another to try you just pay to ship it. Send me a pm if you want to try one out
i have shot the qad and now im shooting a ripcord and i will never leave it, the ruber is silent. there is NO bounce up like the qad tends to exhibit and it is the best rest for the money i would even try the new sos because i like the delay in the drop.
I have an Apache in really great shape I'll sell you. I'm tired of drop away rest and am changing out soon.
I had an apache on my PSE, I now have a QAD ultrarest hdx on my Mathews. The apache is a fine rest and functional, I experienced 0 problems with it. The top load design did get old after a while trying to avoid hitting the bottom of my sight housing. But as stated above the QAD is a higher quality product, made in the USA not china like the apache, the launcher arm locks in the upright position which is very convenient once nocked and loaded, and I've never had any problems with noise, clearance, or bounce back. I'd highly recommend this rest to anyone who wants to buy a rest they'll shoot for years to come.
I have had a QAD hunter, it was a good rest but it was on an old bow. A friend had it on his new bow and had some problem with bounce bach. He changed to a ripcord and no problems. I had a ripcord on my z7x, loved it. It was flawless and adjustments were easy and accurate. I now have an apache carbon on my insanity. I hate it. It's a terrible rest. Adjustments are a total pain in the but, hard to get accurate, and the side loading allows the arrow to come out if you hit it in the valley too hard. Most of that is operator, I will admit, but not every draw is perfect every time. I really wish I would have just ponied up the extra couple bucks and bought another ripcord (I got an amazing deal on the carbon apache). My friend has the regular apache and he doesn't like it because getting the arrows in the chamber is a pain. He also wishes he would have ponied up and gotten another ripcord. He also has a ripcord on his other bow (destroyer 340). In summary, out of myself and 2 friends, we have all shot ripcords, and those of us who changed wish we would not have. The only other rest I would try at this point is a limbdriver. That is only because my local shop owner has one and I value his opinion.
Yeah....the ripcords are very nice IMO! I like my regular apache...the top loading doesn't bother me at all though. To me...it really comes down to what you like and what works best for you. To me...there all good rests.
I like QAD they are a great company made in the USA and built solid, I shoot Ripcord though and I love it. It is much cheaper and its worth the money my only complaint is it drops when you let down and its a pain but its not that big of a deal. And as far as arrow clearance have done the old baby powder on the vanes trick and ripcord is the only one out of the three that had no contact at all. The QAD only touched once and it was a very small streak but the apache was covered it has a lot of bounce back and i will never shoot with it again maybe i got a lemon but I'm not taking my chances. If i were you i would buy Ripcord but if you're choosing from the two its ABSOLUTELY QAD.
