I am out of ideas, I just switched to a new drop away rest and did the paper tune , got the bow shooting bullet holes but no matter which way i put the fletching , cock feather up, down ,either side it still is hitting the rest and leaving black marks on the vanes. The vanes are 3 in. I have tried adjusting everything and am now out of ideas without messing up the tuning of the bow. It only affects the flight really at 25 and out.

What type of bow? Draw length? Arrow length? Type of Arrows? Draw weight? Have you had this problem with other bows?

I have heard of other people having this problem with any drop away rest and I think all you have to do is adjust your string going to the cable so that the rest drops a little earlier, so you will have to lengthen the string, or move it up a little on the cables.

I have been shooting a code red on the z7 and a sizzor rest on the d350 the sizzor rest is awesome but is $$

the code red seams fine and tuned well, chained from a w/b just because of vane ware but shoot fine.

I would paper tune the deal, and try some powder in the rest/riser and see if you have a bouchback issue or hand torque/arrow spline issue should not be too hard to track it down. a good pro shop should fast track you to a straight shooting setup.

Sounds like a hand torque to me. Put a wrist strap on it if you do not have one and
shoot with an open hand with your palm in the proper grip position and see if it still happens. Good Luck

EVERYTIME I have seen this an issue with this rest, the chord length is too SHORT.This rest should not come to the fully upright position untill the last 1" of draw.

Some have experienced bounce back with the cheaper base model, but I have yet to see it,.

tfox would you agree that most people put there rest up by hand to hold the arrow? If so why would it matter when it locked in cuz it's falling when the arrow is sent. Just wondering is all. I understand bounce back but that would have nothing to do with when the rest is fully up right?

From my experience with 2 of them, they are JUNK!!! Sorry, but that's my honest opinion on them. I have Shaffer and Trophy Takers on my rigs, and am very happy with them.

I have tried the powder on the rest deal , it hits every time around the 5 oclock position only . As far as bow torque i use a wrist strap and have a level on my sights.

I would lean more toward the tfox explanation. Worth checking the setup anyway.

Putting the rest up by hand, or having it come up on the draw doesn't make a difference. The problem is that rest isn't released early enough during the shot so it doesn't fall in time. If your rest is released in the first inch of the string coming through, that gives the rest time to get out of the way of the arrow, but if your string accelerates for say 3 or 4"s than the rest doesn't fall early enough giving you fletching contact.

I Had a guy just a couple days ago have your exact feelings with one that he just had taken off his bow.He put on a scissor rest which I feel it is a piece of junk and a waist of time to try and tune correctly.Well, after him running into the issues I said he would have,he went back to the QAD and installed it correctly, the way I described earlier, the tuning issues he had were gone,as well as the fletching contact.:tu:

    I concur
