I recently set up a pse vendetta for 3d with a nap quicktune 1000 rest. I paper tuned it and it was just inside of center shot. I then decided that I was going to hunt with the bow and while waiting for a nap apache rest I'd walk back tune the bow. I got is tuned back to forty yards but the rest is right of centershot and I had to turn the nocks to avoid fletching contact with the cables. The arrow I'm shooting is spined right I also checked with a another brand of arrow that I know is also spined right and it was true back to forty yards also. Am I missing something obvious or could it be a downward or side pressure issue since the rest is prong rest? Thanks in advance Specs pse venetta xs 65 lbs 27.5 draw lenght gt 20 arrow 29 inch also checed with carbon tech cheeta 45/70 29 inch
The Cheetah 45/70 is a .400 spine. I suspect it is a bit weak for your setup. You can check by moving the rest back to center and turning down the DW a few pounds. For reference I shoot a Cheetah 45/70 out of a 58# bow at 29" DL and 29" shaft with a 125 grain tip/22grain insert and this is a non-speed bow. 54# out of a speed bow.
I rechecked carbon tech's spine chart and I'm on there but not by much and the vendetta has some speed so I can see it being under spined. I'm gonna play with it some tomorrow I'm gonna start by dropping dw if it improves I'll chop some arrow off and then try bumping up dw back to where it was.
I downloaded on target software today and checked spine. All I can say is unbeliveable according to carbon techs chart i have the right arrow. On target not even close I checked my other bow's spine and the program was dead on with the other arrows that where spined incorrect. This problem is history now since I'm only using on target now
Charts are really only good to get you in the ballpark, to help you select the right shaft. Then you need something like OT2, or just time and patience, to refine the arrow and get to the best configuration (length, tip weight, DW). There are a lot of ways to make adjustments without moving the rest, it just depends on what you want to adjust or what you can adjust. I have found that, even with OT2 or Archers Advantage you still need to make minor adjustments. They are great in that they can get you very close quickly. Charts do not take into account speed bows, slow bows, etc. Think about it, a chart is recommending for a particular DW and DL but doesn't take into account whether or not it is a 10 year old slow bow or the most modern and fastest bow.
