So I took my bow into a shop to get some more help with the issue. I said the bow had a draw length of 29" but it actually doesn't. It is closer to 27 even though everything says 29". There is definitely something screwy with it. I shot a bow there that was actually 29" and it felt a lot better. I will probably start a new thread and see if anyone else has had the same issue with this particular bow.
lol then your wingspan isn't 75...... something isn't right here. What shop did you visit? Trustworthy pro shop or a kid at a box store?
Bows with varying ATA's, and in turn, varying string angle, can have the same DL and have a remarkably different feel at anchor.
The guy definitely seemed to know what he was doing. I'm living in CA right now but will be heading back to VT in a couple of weeks. I will have the guy I normally go to check it out. We measured my arrows at the shop and they measured 27.5". So the bow can't be set for 29" then, correct?
We'll I can't see the pics posted on my phone. And I'm getting ready to go work a plot. So my best advice would be make sure your bow if the right draw length like others have said. Go take a few shooting tips from a local instructor on proper form. You need to be able to start off in a T stance with your eyes closed bend your draw hand to your jaw where your web of your Han will almost settle right on the corner of your jaw bone. When the bow is not sized right or the peep is off just a bit. Guys ten to max out their sights. Generally that is a big flag saying there is a bigger problem. Your sight and rest should never be at an extreme adjustment. Mathews Chill X NAP Carbon apache HHA optimizer Pine ridge stab CX Maxima Hunters
No that is not correct. You can absolutely have a 29" DL and shoot a 27.5" arrow. It is all dependent upon where your rest sits, and who and or how you like, your arrows cut.
Here is a short video, look at me anchor in relation to the corner of my mouth, jawbone and tip of nose. Compare to your picture. Hopefully this helps to show what I mean.
Pay not attention to my horrible form from this elevated position. I was unable to bend at the waist due to the railing and camera placement. Typically I hang past the rail when shooting but couldn't get a good camera angle when doing so lol
Yeah I see what you mean. I have decided to put everything back to the way it was. I was shooting just fine with it before I decided to change everything. I know my form isnt perfect but that is because the bow isnt perfect for me. I have noticed now that the peep is back to its original position that the nock rests at the corner of my mouth and not on my cheek. The string doesnt cross or touch my nose like it should but thats a result of having to raise my head just a bit to line the peep up with the sight. In the end, I know the bow isnt perfect for me so when I am in the market for a new one I will make sure I get measured and properly fitted for one. Hopefully I will be able to erase all of the bad habits I have picked up with shooting this bow haha.
I concur, his Draw Length is too Long. Your Peep is too low, that is why your anchor point is too high.
Not an expert here, but IMO your draw length is too long. You should barely be "kissing" your knock when in full draw.
Exactly what he said. And many others, it will help you're form and you will be more consistent. Glad to see you getting it worked out.
Also I notice your left wrist that's holding the bow is gripping that bow super tight cause your wrist ligaments/vanes are showing. I hope you aren't shooting like that, you got to keep it very light and bearly touching
