I'm in need of replacing a total of 4 straps on my existing LW climbers. At 39.99 bucks a pop, this is not an easy thing to swallow. Anyone have any alternative ideas? Heck, I would settle for 10% off and free shipping. I see they have 5.99 flat rate shipping right now.

Anyone else have to replace their straps yet?

    Thanks, JD

Are you talking the black straps that connect the top and bottom?

Sorry PT - I have been in the middle of a lot of stuff and did not get back to this post. I did not mean to ignore your response.

I'm talking about the traction belts that go around the tree itself.

This is my biggest grip about Lone Wolf. Their stuff is great, high quality and all. But they need to relax a bit on accessory prices. They are seriously gouging the heck out of us on that stuff.

For instance, I just bought a Sit and Climb Wide this past spring. I spent the summer using it, and wanted to add the footrest kit. $40 for two 12" pieces of aluminum bent into an "L". I just noticed they are selling a gun rest for their climbers now. You guessed it, $80! The traction belt price is absurd.

Its bad enough their stands are expensive, but if you want to add to them, bend over.

Take it with a grain of salt, and NEVER shortcut on your safety... but I've had my Lone Wolf Alpha Hand Climber for almost 10 years now and I STILL see no reason to replace the belts -- they have steel cables imbedded within them, and they're not nicked or torn or worn in the least.

I'd just ask... do you NEED to replace them yet? ;)

Mine is a 2008 and my belts still look great. I considered buying the longer ones they sell only because I had to pick a new spot this year because twice the tree i picked was just a little to big for the belt to fit.

Coop, don't ya just love that? As a fellow PA guy, I know what you're talking about with trees. They must test and design those stands for telephone poles is all I can figure.

I have the Wide Sit and Climb and wouldn't you know it, they put a long belt on the top section and a standard length belt in the bottom. Just to force me to pay extra for another long belt on the bottom.

As I said, they're great stands, but the company has gotten really good at nickel and diming you to death on accessories and "add ons".
