How have you removed ticks from puppies? Is there some tool you used to make it go faster? Puppies don't sit still long which would make it hard to take a tweezers and get it all when the dog is squirming all over the place.

I will be using Frontline or whatever it is called these days.

I saw this. Not sure if it helps or not.

You get the whole tick out with your fingers?

Yeah. They just pull out. People talk about the "heads" being left in, I've never seen it. Not even pulling them out of myself.

Or is the real issue that they're too "icky" for you to touch? :)

Really, if you use Frontline, they'll never have a tick in them.

Not for me, but they are too "icky" for my wife to touch. LOL

I've never had a puppy and took it into tick areas like we will at the cabin this year. Previous dogs I've had I didn't take them into the woods in tick country (up north) until they were older.

I hope you are right but we had a Springer that had Frontline on and she got a few ticks here or there.

My lab has never had a tick stick to him and feed when we use Frontline. If they do bite them, the tick dies right away.

Since you buy "organic" food and are starting to eat grass fed beef, I'm amazed you'll put a chemical on your dog. :poke:

A shock collar makes them sit still pretty well

I've always had good luck with frontline. They came out, or I just noticed, with a spray type that u can cover whole body with.

I used to use Frontline but the last week of the monthly dosage the dog always picked up a few ticks. My vet switched to a different product called Parastar which I researched and am now using and it succesfully gets me through until the new dosage. I have lots of time and money invested in my hunting dogs so I also get them the Lyme's vaccine. The vaccine isn't 100% effective, but better than nothing.

I too just use my fingers!
