Is there anyway to remove a glued insert from a carbon arrow without damaging the arrow and retaining the same length? I have thought about trying a brass insert...and my arrows still work on the chart so would like to try them first...
Find a drill bit that fits snugly inside the shaft but still moves freely. Put it in the shaft, butt end first, and then start swinging the shaft down so as to cause the drill bit to slide into the insert with some force. You may want to swing the shaft towards a towel on the floor because sometimes, when the insert comes flying out, it is moving so fast it bounces around and hits things before stopping. You may have to swing the shaft a few or a bunch, depends on how good/fresh the glue is. I have heated up the insert end with a hair dryer and that sometimes helps.
I've tried on my FMJ's but didn't have much luck but I kinda chickened out on It too and probably didn't get the arrow hot enough. I brought the arrow Into the archery shop I bought them from and he then heated It up and got It out. I don't think It's something a person wants to do. If your going to try out a brass Insert don't use hardly any glue. I think I also read somewhere too to use a plastic zip lock bag when shoving an Insert In. It's suppose to hold In place enough If I recall correctly. Just trim the edges once you have It In to get rid of the excess weight.
