I discovered something I thought I'd share. I removed the factory black rubber grip from my Mission by Matthews Craze and man my groups instantly became smaller.

I thought I might have more hand shock, but couldn't tell any difference. The grip made it feel too thick, so I thought what the heck, I'd try it without it. I really like it without it.

The only draw back I can see is it your hand could get cold during these Iowa winters, but I don't care.

Anybody else shoot without a grip?

I will never go back to a big grip, after shooting PSE. Way to much torque involved in those big grips.

As for your hand getting cold. Go to an athletic store and pick up some tennis racquet wrap, works great!

Yep, one of my biggest knocks on Matthews bows. They use a tree trunk for a grip and I never could shoot them really well.

I prefer thin sideplates like on my Allegiance. Pretty much like not having any grip at all and really is only for visual purposes.

My new Mathews maniac has a really nice "grip" its basically flush with the rest of the handle. I can definately tell a grouping difference from this new bow from my old one.

There are several aftermarket grip manufacturers; Shrewd, Torqueless, Gripwerks, Bob Lambeth, Loesch... that exist specifically because of this problem. Take a look at Shrewdarchery.com and see if they make a delrin plastic grip for your bow. It'll be warmer than the riser. All my Matthews got Shrewds.

Back when I shot Mathews, I'd order in a bow... and an aftermarket grip and set of aftermarket strings simultaneously.

No doubt. Day one of Matthews ownership = building new strings/cables and installing accessories, including aftermarket grip.

Currently have the factory grip on my MR7 but I'm considering putting on an aftermarket.

I just got done placing an order for a grip for my Mission from Torqueless. They have great selection of beautiful-looking woods. Check them out. They feature a much more streamlined profile that looks similar to the newer "Focus Grips" from Mathew's.
