It would be easier on all of us....if you just pointed out all the parts of this that don't hold water. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution
The bold red words are the holes in the bucket. We can accept any "theory" we like, but that does not make it reality. Do you accept every theory of man over God's wisdom Jeff? Who are we to say that God did not confuse the minds of those who insisted they would be wiser than their very creator?
Monkey A and Monkey B start out in one location. Monkey B, Monkey A's brother gets separated and placed in an isolated area due to the earths crust moving throughout the years. Monkey A that stays in the same area does not evolve much at all. Monkey B that moves out onto the isolated area evolves to meet the needs of his environment. 10,000 years later Monkey A and Monkey B are genetically examined and found to have a common ancestor. Hmmmm. So how in the world do Monkey A and Monkey B differ if they were identical 10,000 years ago? Carbon dating, dna testing, mathematics, studying the earths developmental history in sedimentary layers, studying rat poop...and the list goes on and on to support the idea of evolution. Evolution either exists or God threw us a knuckle ball at us at 42mph and we completely whiffed.
Bobby... It makes me absolutely laugh (and, I'm a Christian) in a scientific discussion, to see a man attempt to dispel scientific theory.....using "faith" as his basis for forming his stance. You need to realize that sticking your head in the sand won't make evolution go away. (BTW,....I betcha God believes in evolution) And, if all else fails....you have this????
Ok, Mr. Jeff, take your scientific discussion to the God whom I have personally witnessed remove malignant cancer, when the science taught doctors shook their head and said they could not explain it. Or, the broken leg bone of a man that was sticking out of the meat, miraculously move back inside the leg and align with the bone. That one left the science taught doctors scratching their butts as well. I could go on and on bro, but to tell this to someone who believes we came from a man's theory would be wasted breath on my part. And Jeff, sticking our head in the sand won't make God and His creation go away either. It just leaves us not knowing His truth. And by the way, I betcha God is still laughing about man's feeble attempt to explain "His" creation thru evolution. We have whiffed on a lot simpler things in this life. Why is that one so hard to swallow.
Interesting. Does he look like he does in the movies? And, why must you create a false dichotomy of an either/or on evolution and creationism?
Evolution, creation, intelligent design.... sure I have my beliefs but I don't like investing much time into these type of debates. Why? Because it has little to do with my relationship with God, and has little impact on what he's trying to change in me to be a better person. It's just not practical for me to worry about it much at all. What do I worry about? Well, trying to get one step closer to Jesus. Is there one little thing I can change in the way I interact with my wife, or my dad, or my neighbor, or some dude on the internet, some little thing that can be the smallest reflection of Jesus? Is there a relationship that He'd have me mend? Is there a cause that He'd have me give to? How can I live so that no one could look at my life without the conclusion that "he could only be like that because of Jesus." I'd also love to be more involved with what He is doing. I'd love to pray for healing and see it happen (I know people who do this all the time), to see God working in someones life and be a part of it. I want catch glimpses of the Kingdom of God with more and more frequency. I think my problem is that I don't have the balls to step out in faith... not with any sort of frequency anyway. Here's something random that just struck me as funny. You can't prove God with science. You can't prove science with God. You can't disprove science with God. You can't disprove God with science. I tend to believe in both, but I only trust my salvation to One...
The thing is....of COURSE God threw us a "Knuckle Ball" and we missed. We are not meant as humans, in his image, to understand how it works. We are on this earth to believe that we are in his image and to live a sin free life, and repent for the sins we commit. At least that's what i remember from sunday school...
Mankind have we really evolved ? better sit down and watch this all the way thru. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6y404MAQpY&feature=player_embedded#
Evolved? Sure we have........some civilizations have just progressed further than others. Bobby...I thought about this last night, more. One thing I failed to say was - that I admire your conviction. That part is refreshing, to me. Have a great day.
Just for the record, a theory, in science, is an explanation for a set of factual observations. What you are calliing a theory is an hypothesis, an untested assumption that something might be true. Once tested, if found to be true, it is combined with other tested facts into a threory which explains a process. The threory of evolution is not a wild guess of some kind, but an explanation for the selective process which resulted in the diversity of species. We are not wiser than our creator. Our creator is not a being like us that can be wise or unwise. your anthropomorphizing belittles and demeans our creator.
Simply beautiful! Funny that so many that begin to know God, instantly start to put him in a nice little box......
I bet he laughs harder at some of his followers attempt to define him It's common sense the creation of earth did not happen like it states in the bible, not that God did not have a hand in it, but there is no way it happen like it states in the bible. There is no way life just happen either. I have rocks in my yard older then what some believe how old the earth is these days
Were dinosaurs made on the 4th or 5th day or did god have one of those sideshow carnival mirrors ? and before someone say's it. I have been baptize twice and i still have questions. There are ice ages, meteor strikes, solar flares, north-south pole reversal, tsunami waves, why does mans ego think we need to blame these natural happenings on a god we cant see,or is it man need a fall-back plan for being a killing machine. Or will we evolve
Watched a show on NatGeo, this AM. They were showing an archaelogical (sp?) dig in S. Dakota....where they've found fossils (lots of them) from 30M years ago.
Here's the kicker. They say 30million. But how did they date these fossils? I realize that people have made assumptions upon other assumptions. Fossils are not the actual item, but items thate were preserved in whatever fashion under pressure, and basic lost wax mold that gets filled in with material. I mean CSI units have trouble dating a dead body here and now sometimes, but these guys throw out numbers on these fossils. Forensic investigators have unsolved mysteries of the modern day now. I work in the science field, and scientist argue non-stop. Or debate, I guess you can say. Evenually, a technique or theory will show thru on technologies. I go to scientific conferences put on by OSA, IEEE, and the scientist can't even agree with principles now or cause and effects. Things we can repeat in a lab. But all these so called scientist just throw out numbers. I understand the principles of carbon dating, and half lifes, etc. But the bottom line is no-one can create the past. These so-called scientist, and I use that term loosely, base thier information based off of assumptions upon another assumption.
Let's say they were off by a couple million years. Is that more believable than them being off by 29,998,000? I'll ask a totally honest question.......What's the rub with their dating (assuming it's true) and Christians? Is it because that would make the Bible timeline not "work"? Do we know how long a "year" was in Biblical times? Again...honest questions. Who's to say God didn't create the world a long time ago (so to speak)? In other words.....why does it have to be an either/or?
Hell lets say they are 50% wrong 15,000,000 years ago, now what? I believe the big guy did create everything, just not in the matter some think from the good book. There are rocks in my yard that are older then 10,000 years old. Let us not just look at fossiles, lets look at the Grand Canyon, 5 million years or so to create? Some of the relgious crazies need to take a chill pill, last week they were on the street corner with signs letting us know how evil we all were. The one said "You're wicked and you know it" So I gave them the double bird through my sun roof Damn right I am wicked
