I have True Fire Hurricane and its a great release. I had the same problem as you at first, but realized the release is super sensitive and my finger was only touching the trigger slightly during my draw back and it was causing it to fire. To make sure I never do that again I keep my middle finger under the trigger to make sure it doesn't touch it and keep that index finger on the top of the release and far away from the trigger. If your no where near the trigger and it fires during your draw back then it's probably the release is faulty. Also are you using a string loop? I had a cheap release and didn't have a loop and it went off during draw back almost every time (through that release out lol) the loop helps 100%

I have a Truball Copperhead and a Scott Wildcat.

Both top notch, top of the line releases. I like them both very, very much but a slight edge goes to the Copperhead because of the forced shut/spring jaws whereas it's a manual shut Wildcat. The Copperhead I find quicker and more user friendly.

I do however, use them both.

i have a cobra green mamba and a scott little goose. and they are both fantastic, althought i think the machining on the cobra is better. and the jaws are smaller. i have grown to love single sided calipers

thats how i draw w/ middle finder under the trigger.im thinking i might have some how squeezed the lower trigger adjusting screw causing it to move the trigger slightly.i will continue to watch my fingers and see.the release is a double jaw caliper type i forgot what model it is however.

Is your Tru fire adjustable? The one I have is, and if adjusted light, it can be kind of a hair trigger. I have a Short-n-sweet too and even at it's lightest setting is not as light as the Tru fire "can" be. I don't know how sceintific it is, but I make a loop with an old piece of string loop material and put it in a vice, lock it down and hook on the release. Pull on that loop in the vice harder than you would ever pull you bow and you'll know if it will go off early. Works for me anyway, good luck.

You need to go over the adjustment instructions on your release. I have the TruFire 360 Elite, Fold-back, Buckle and had two accidental discharge while trying to set the release as light as it would go. I was aware of the hazard before fooling with the settings. One quarter of a turn on the set screw makes a BIG difference.

Once I got mine set, I have had no problems in two years of daily practice.

Like others have mentioned, by all means, keep your finger behind the trigger until you have established a good sight picture.

    Merry Christmas

Currently running a Tru Ball Cyclone. I really like it, but would like a buckle design. The closest I have found is a Tru Fire Edge. That will likely be my next release.

You should be able to buy a buckle strap directly from TRU Ball. I have done that in the past.Give them a call, tell them the release you have and that you want the buckle strap for it and they will send it to you. Great customer service.

Thanks for the tip Bruce...Ultimately, I'd like the Copperhead head and a camo buckle strap. I will look into calling Truball.

I like the Copperhead also and now that I have seen Rob give it the thumbs up it will likely be the next release I get.
