Does it matter what kind of release you use. Does it affect the accuracy at all? Right now i have a Free Flight C-10 and I’m thinking about getting a T.R.U. Ball Max Pro 4 Caliper Release what do you guys think.
Changing releases can change how you anchor to some degree depending on the make, style of releases however, if you are strictly talking getting a new one and resighting for that particular release, then not necessarily. You're point of impact is just that for that release, however I said not necessarily as I feel there are releases that are of better quality, release whys that can affect your accuracy just because it works better.
TruBall, Carter, Stan & Scott are the ones that I have liked the most. They all have great mechanisms with good adjustability. I've used a number of TruBalls over the years. I've not used the Free Flight, so I honestly can't compare them, but I would buy a TruBall with confidence any day.
Right now I'm using a $15 Truglo release I got at a liquidator store. It shoots good but one thing that drives me nuts about it is the where the release attaches to the wrist band isn't secure. So I am constantly having to grab the release part and pull it back out because it will begin to settle back. Meaning the release and bar will start to slide backwards out of the wrist band. It can't go all the way out because the release is bigger than the hole. Its annoying but I am in the habit of constantly checking to make sure it is in the correct position. When i purchased my bow, I didn't have a release so I used one of the shops scoot ones while testing bows. Gotta say it was a LOT nicer than my truglo but I didn't have $70 to spend on a release at the time.

There is a great difference between a quality release and a cheap release. Whether you'll shoot better or not with a quality release depends on how good a shot you are. One thing that you can be sure of though is that you'll have more confidence in a quality release. Things to consider: -If you get a wrist strap be sure that it's a buckle and not Velcro. The buckle returns to an exact position every time you put it on which increases your precision. The Velcro can vary from time to time. -Get something that you can hook into your loop or string easily. -Get something that isn't in your way and banging around when you don't want it to. -Get something that helps give you a good solid anchor point.
