Again, I've got more questions than a 4 yr old.
I have been out bow shopping since the 1st of the year (1st bow ever) and have been fortunte enough to shoot a variety of bows.
I have shot them all with whatever release the shop has laying around.
Does the release add into how a bow feels to you, are they an intragal part of the feel?
Would I be better off to buy my own release before I retest, choose from the top 2 or 3 bows?

Probably need to buy the release you want first. Different releases can be different lengths which can make you change your anchor point a touch. It may not so much change your anchor point but if its a short release it may make you bend your elbow more that you are used to leading to making you believe the bows draw length is too short and vice versa.

Get the release first. Keep the number of variables to a minimum.

Try different releases at a pro shop and decide from there

Releases will alter how your anchor can feel. You should still get a good idea about the bow; it's grip, it's draw cycle, the curve of the cam.

It's not a bad idea to find a release you like and bring it with you shopping.

Good luck picking out a bow. Let us know how it goes :tu:

Anytime I'm out an about my release is in my pocket or in the truck. It won't make a lot of differance on how the bow feels mechanical wise but it will affect comfort shooting with different releases all the time

    Thanks all,
I ended up with a scott little bity goose. Didn't think I'd like a flexible release, but it kinda grew on me after shooting it a bit.
Used it when I got down to deciding between the top two choices, made it easier to compare. Like ya said, less variables/
