Hunted without a release once.....saw a ton of deer but only a mature buck at sub 20 yards was gonna make me use raw fingers for one shot....

Now a back up release lives in my backpack and a cheap walmart backup in the truck also. :D Anything else I'll work around...

I have forgotten my release enough at home, in the truck, ect. That I keep several old cheap releases in various places truck, pack bow case , totes of camo and since I have started to do that I have never forgotten my main release LOL

I always attach my release to my riser as I am putting my bow away, so it is always with my bow, but I also have an extra in my pack just in case. The other day took my climber out and forgot my rope to pull my bow up, so I just set the bow on the top part of the cimber and I had small bungee cord in my pack so I attached that to the bow just in case.

Safety Harness for me. I left it at home one hunt last year and I hunted from the ground.

Luckily i havent forgot anything critical yet, as im always paranoid so i check to make sure i have essentials.
One time last year i hooked my rope to my climber but forgot to hook to my bow. Climbed all the way up the tree went to pull my bow up and had to climb back down. Ill never do that again as now i check before i climb.

the two locations in Florida I hunt are two hours and four hours from the house. by the time I get there I'm ready to hunt naked with a sharp stick. I would find someway to make that trip worthwhile if some essential piece was forgotten.

After staying out of a bedding area where a huge buck was living in NC few years back I finally decided to go in after him and when I got into my tree realized I had no release had no idea where it went to this day have no idea where it went. From now on I go over a mental checklist before going into the woods. I wouldn't hunt without my release tags or dry boots.

The release. I read a F&S column by Bill Heavy this year where he said a wise man once told him, strap your release around your bow when done hunting. That way, whenever you go hunting with your bow, you have a release. Genius. : )
