I always like to look back on the season and remember the highlights from hunts or time afield.

This year’s short list would contain things like:

Seeing the excitement in my wife’s eyes after she passed up a close shot at a really good 2 ½ year old 8 pt. one October evening.

Close encounters with a couple of good bucks with my bow in hand

Watching turkeys roost in the trees all around my stand on a river bluff ridge top one evening.

Getting to see a big buck breed a doe while two other smaller bucks fought just 30 yards away from the love birds

Building new friendships, and the good times spent with all the guys in our lease.

It always amazes me that some of highlights that make me smile the most have nothing to do with me harvesting a deer.

What’s your highlight from this past season that makes you smile?
