I decided to hunt an entirely new spot tonight so I took the climber. I get to a nice looking area and knew that was where I wanted to be. I climbed and got situated for a nice evening in stand. At about 1700 this old girl comes strolling by and mills around eating acorns about 30 yards away. I don't have a shot and patiently wait. Finally, at 1735 she offered me a 18 yard shot and I took it. She only went 77 yards (I know this b/c of a new app "My Tracks" I downloaded for my phone today). I would show you a map with the POI and where she ended up but I'm having a few technical difficulties. While I was giving her time I heard footsteps in the other direction and caught a glimpse of antlers moving thru the brush. He makes a scrape and continues on his way. I'm going back to that spot in the morning hoping to get a better look at him. The pic quality sucks but I was beat and just wanted to get home.
Good job Donnie! Be grateful for what you get in the woods. You made a great kill and have some wonderful meat.
Thanks fellas! This new spot is KILLER! I saw a group of six does this morning, a buck that snuck by me and ignored my calling, and then a spiker. Its a funnel between a field and a thicket. I go back to work monday night but plan on hunting it again that morning. As for now, I'm heading to my parents. The land of no cell reception and dial up internet so wish me luck tomorrow. Good luck to everyone as well!
