Well terrible timing, we're now trying to sell our house and i need to have it ready to be listed by next week. This is going to interfere with my hunt next week, ill still hunt, just less. What might be beneficial is i read the peak of rut is supposed to be nov 14 ish, this would allow me to hunt this current cold front and then much closer to peak rut
O well don’t sweat it, just hunt when ya can. I used to get all stressed out when I had stuff to do and couldn’t hunt (not saying that you are) but it always worked out, I’m much more clam than I used to be. I don’t have any kids yet so I’m sure that will all change again when I do lol.
I made it to Ohio! The rain is supposed to stop around daylight. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Had a pretty exciting morning before I ever got my bow hoisted up. Had a buck feeding all around my tree this morning but of course he houdinied as soon as shooting light hit. He walked all over my trail in and the base of my tree so I feel good about my scent control. Also had a deer blow at me while I was getting dressed at my truck. Hopefully they stay on their feet this morning. Rain got pushed back till 11 so I'm dry for now Sent from my Z831 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Well fellas, I slipped into a spot I save for a day just like today.. pre rut, cold front coming in. It’s a ridge where they bed on the south side of the hill, I had the perfect wind coming from the south over the ridge. I did a light rattle session 20 mins goes by and I catch antlers, I grunted at him and he came full tilt at me grunting.. I took the shot e ran off to about 70 yds, he went down then got up then went back down. Shot him at 8:20 was got give it an hour. Praying he is right there bc rain is real close, I’ll keep y’all posted.
Suncrest you remind me i need to get a new grunt tube! My son used mine as a toy and now it sounds like a ticked off duck And fingers crossed we get a picture of that buck!
Update on house, worked super late into the night, working all day up until my lack luster nebraska cornhuskers plays at 630, and i should be done Planning at leaving sunday morning 230 or 3 am and get to spot in time to hunt sunday morning
Smoked a nice doe with my daughter yesterday. She loved it. She picked which one as there was a bunch. And got so excited she taped it( without recording lol) gotta love forgetting to press record.
Update, I went to recover and the buck stood up took a few steps and stopped, I backed out and gonnechesd back in 4-5 hrs. Never happened to me b4 I’m about to puke
He was at 10yds and that’s a chip but I don’t like shots 10 and in, but I elected to take the 10 yd shot, he was slightly quartering to me. I put it right behind his right shoulder a touch high. I think I got one lung.
I took a 7 yard shot on a doe last fall and the extreme angle made things odd Father on law hunting some movement
Just give him some time I bet you won't find him far from where you last saw him Sent from my Z831 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Shot my buck this year at 8 yards and quartering to. On the entrance it was one lung and liver. On the exit it was guts. Because it was such a close shot my entrance was way higher than my exit. He bedded three times and died about 200 yards from where I shot him. Found him two hours after the shot. Good luck! Those one lung shots are always concerning, but hopefully your broadhead got more than you think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well I went back to recover and he was 10 yds from where I last saw him bedded. He bumped up and I got s shot at him 43yds had a pie plate lane to him, so I thought. Hit a branch and deflected the arrow the buck crossed down the hill to the neighbors, went to the neighbors and he told me F off. So I’m screwed, sorry boys I blew it I’m just sick right now. This is humbling to say the least
Dang man I'm sorry to hear that! Its the nature of beast. I can't believe that your neighbor isn't even willing to let you go try to recover your deer. You did all could. Sent from my Z831 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
