Just pulled chips today and still got the big 10 all around the property in daylight. He is hard horned now, just waiting till the 30th to chase him.
Last year I didn't go out first day and he came right threw where I have a stand, not making that mistake this year. Hopefully he does it again.
Gotta love teeter totter bucks. The type you don't know if you will take or pass until you are looking thru a peep Think I would kill him but secretly wish I had the testicular fortitude to give another year
My thoughts exactly. I am gonna pass him tho, I ate tag soup in Pa last year and it didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth bc the buck I was after made it through and is my target this year. I had some good encounters last year tho with young bucks. If that short tine 10 makes it through he should be a great buck next year. Plus this is the only property I have to myself and can implement some sort of management on the deer I take.
Hey guys, I'm heading to Jersey for a week with the wife's family to earn some hunting time credits . I'll try to check in as much as I can. To those already shooting... Continue to kick @$$ and post updates. Everyone waiting with batted breath continue to live vicariously through Ben and such.
It kills me it's opening morning and I'm in my living room but I'll be in a tree this afternoon looking for doe Sent from my Z831 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Well I'm back from Colorado. We didn't have any luck, it was really hot and there was a ton of blowdown where we were hunting. My wife had a really hard time getting around, but she still did really well for her first elk hunt. We ended up cutting the hunt short and decided to go see all the national parks in Colorado. We ended up having a good time and now we are fixing to start our season here next Saturday. Can't wait to get back in the woods.
Sorry to hear your hunt wasn't successful. An elk hunt is on my bucket list for sure Sent from my Z831 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I still consider it a success. It was the first time my wife ever went and it got her out of her comfort zone in a lot of different ways. We said before the trip that we were going to have a good time no matter what, and that's what we did. It turned out to be a really good vacation.
So let me ask you guys something. I usually run Irish setter Vaprtreks so its never been an issue. Do you wear rubber boots durning your bow hunting, and if so do you put your pant legs in them or keep them on the outside? I am looking at getting the lacrosse aeroheads or alpha burly pros.
