It's actually been crazy balls here in W. NY. We will go a week without out rain then get a few inches in a hour! The wettest summer I've seen

Wow! Our June was just basically monsoons and then it's eased up and quit. Not complaining because it's much better than last year!

I have a delema fellas, I have a spot that is in a field by a pond, it's in a bowl. There is timber all around and a real thick bedding/traveling corridor to the ridge of the bowl and the creek bottom of the bowl, I would love to set up just inside the field edge to watch the bedding/travel and still hunt field. Problem is it's a major bedding and even when I went to hang a cam on field edge I bump deer, I don't want to mess the bedding up bc I got some bruisers living on the property. Should I hang a set and try to hunt it super early in the am and just sit all day or just abandon the area completely and hunt around it? I been avoiding it the past several years but I always get daytime pics of my target bucks in there, thoughts and ideas. Also there is a logging road to the right of it going from the bottom to the top. I have hunted along that b4 but deeer were always too far or I bumped them going in.

Purple is logging road, red is bedding area, yellow is potential stand locations and black is my trail cam, the wind typically blows from the west if your looking at the pic, which makes it really hard to hunt.

I think it's worth a try suncrest. If you've blown a few deer and the area still holds them you should be ok. I think if you're careful and hunt when the wind is absolutely perfect you have a good shot of sticking one of those bucks! I know if I got daytime photos I would try it at least once

I had a really good card pull yesterday. The buck that I'm after is doing the same exact thing in the same place as the buck I killed in 2015. I'm feeling really good about my chances with him. He is showing up in daylight way too much for his own good. I also had another mature buck show up that is 5.5 this year. I hadn't seen him yet this summer. He hasn't put much of anything on this year, but I will still shoot him if he comes by. He's a 130ish class 8 point. There are a couple of really nice 3.5 year olds showing up too that I hope nobody pulls the trigger on. My wife and I are pretty much the only people that bowhunt the entire 700 or so acres, so hopefully we can strike early and maybe the young bucks can make it through.

Good luck. We'll be hunting around Pagosa Springs. Steep country and thin air where we are going, but hopefully it will deter most others. I know the elk will be there, just got to get lucky.

Ok boys need an opinion. We're on property of a rod and gun club I'm part of. Only 1 other guy hunts this spot regular (and by regular he hung a stand 2 years ago and I've never seen him since). It is a field that opens in the middle of a wooded area. The downhill side has a bunch of tall grass, and the uphill side has (please don't laugh at this description) a bunch of those trees that drop acorns. There is one lone tree right in the middle of the opening that leaves between a 25-50 foot shot to the edges of the field. I put a blind next to the tree. I'm hunting with my son so it's a little roomier than a stand for bowhunting. I put down some corn and planted something which I forgot exactly on the uphill side.

So here's my question. Is the blind a good move or should I pick a side and hang some stands to get a closer shot potentially? I hung a camera (finally) so I can actually see what the other guy has been telling me. He claims it's a great spot. The geography lends to his case, but I like pictures.

Without seeing a diagram I would say blinds can work but a stand with great back drop is the best. If your boy is old enough might wanna think about putting up a set. ...... By that I mean a stand and then another stand over the right shoulder of the person sitting in the first stand.

    Idea for next year
Attached is view of part of our property, the black outline was planted with a clover mix several years ago and the older it gets the less it gets grazed, we have a neighbor mow and bale it.
    Orange is southern property line

The red line is a row of apple and pear trees.
The idea is next year neighbor to south will be in corn, we have him plant the black with corn then either leave it all standing to hold/attract deer all season, or knock down most of it but not harverst, or the one im highest on now, have everything but the yellow harvested.
Yellow stays standing providing cover to the deer, would then hunt a ground blind or elevated box blind somewhere blended into the fruit tree line.

Provides deer feeling of cover, provides food and makes part of land that really isnt easily easily huntable as a viable place to hunt

I don't know your monetary disposition but if that's your property and a constant I would think about a fly blind. I made one this year and it cost me just under 1k. I don't need to preach the benefits of elevation. I think you have yourself a killing field there my friend. Can't wait to see results!
